- Hotel San Pietrino
The Hotel San Pietrino is simple and to the point and the price is right. Located in a cool and central neighborhood, it is easy to imagine that you really live in Rome and that this is the neighborhood your family grew up in. There's an excellent restaurant across the street (featuring fantastic local dishes) and a few sweet bars that are open late. The man working the front desk was helpful and friendly. I appreciated the self-serve coffee, tea, and fizzy water dispenser in the hallway.Recommended for:

The hotel San Pietrino is a very affordable pensione a couple blocks away from the Metro. It's spankingly clean and the beds are firm and comfortable. The amenities are slim, but there is a free coffee and water machine that dispenses sparking thirst quenching H2O and black, sweet coffee to get you out the door in the morning. Across the street is one of the best places to get stuck into authentic Roman food like trippa and amatriciana. The service is friendly and relaxed, and the WIFI is fast and free. Sometimes Rome can feel like the eternally expensive city, but the San Pietrino definitely gives you plenty for your money.Recommended for:

Why stay at Hotel San Pietrino? If you're on the hunt for Rome's best food, you'll spend a pretty penny at restaurants, and Hotel San Pietrino will balance your bank account with its budget prices and great location.Recommended for:

Although it's called Bed&Breakfast they don't serve breakfast there :). However, they provide free hot water for tea, free wi-fi in the rooms and are 15 minutes walk for Vatikan and St. Peter. I paid 75EU per night in May holidays (it's a small single room with internal bathroom), but rates are rather flexible, as I understood. The personnel are nice, and they give you three keys: to the front door, to the door on the floor where the hotel itself is, and to your room. Which gives you the impression that you've really rented a flat in the centre of Rome and live in it :)
