Capsule hotels in Japan were originally conceived for business men travelling domestically in Japan and only staying in town short term. Siesta is a capsule hotel in that tradition and basically a cheap place to stay temporarily. The prices are really rock bottom. It’s 3,300 yen for a capsule (small coffin style room with only a bed and a TV) and 6,600 for a small one room with private toilet and bath. This is about as cheap as it gets for central Tokyo.
The hotel is neat and clean and has free satellite TV and free Wi-Fi and not much else. It also has a bit of quaint Japanese feel to it as visitors are asked to remove their shoes upon at the entrance. The location, just around the corner from Ebisu Station is quite nice as well featuring quite a few shops and restaurants in a small area.

Hotel Siesta is a 3,300 yen a night capsule hotel. The beds are classic capsules stacked on top of each other with their own lights, phones to the front desk, alarm clocks, radios, and TVs. Hotel Siesta also has tiny budget rooms that you are allowed to have two people in. This capsule has a floor for women, unlike some, maybe most? other capsules, so enjoy, ladies. The baths are communal so if you haven't hit up a Japanese bath before, grab a little plastic seat, spray it down, have a seat, scrub yourself with soap, wash all the soap off, spray the seat again, and then soak in the tub. You're not supposed to talk too loud in a bath, but I Imagine the bath at Hotel Siesta has seen some loud talkers in its day. Check in is at 5:00 p.m. and check out is at 10:00 a.m., but it's also possible to rent a capsule by the hour. Hotel Siesta's lobby smells smokey, but that might be because it's the only place you are allowed to smoke. Smoking in a capsule must be a serious fire hazard. Hotel Siesta is a chain, and they also have branches in Gotanda and in Shinagawa. They're all really close to the stations. The one in Ebisu is less than a minute from the station, and if you want to check out, but you don't want to carry your stuff around, there are lockers in Ebisu station. There's also bike rental in the east exit bike parking lot. This is a good place to try a capsule because space is at a premium in Ebisu. It's a posh neighborhood, and anything that takes up space--lap dogs, large purses, children--are all status symbols. When I see a woman with one of these things in Ebisu, my first thought is "She must have such a spacious apartment."
