Awesome colonia hotel with funky modern furniture - great contrast. Enormous rooms. Free spa treatment with each night's stay, breakfast buffet included. Chocolate museum, ChocoMuseo, housed within hotel! Gorgeous pool.

This is a bit of a mixed review. The spa portion and pool are fantastic! Having written that, you can also pay for access to the pool if you are staying at a different hotel. The access to the pool is free with a spa treatment. As far as the spa treatments, I strongly suggest getting a massage! Better yet, get one every day you are in Granada. (The facial and mani/pedi leave a little to be desired.)

Now the rooms... They are huge and but could use some attention. And "traps" in the plumbing. The rooms have a funky smell to them. I'm no plumber but I think the smell could be prevented by using traps under the sinks. I don't mean a little smell either... the whole room had faint sewerage smell from the sink. The smell in the bathroom strong. The rooms have great potential, and the building structure is beautiful. The mattresses seemed pretty old and they rooms had nothing to recommend them. They could use some more lighting too... I had reservations in February for 3 days, so stayed... When we decided to stay an extra day, we changed hotels for the final day. A unique thing about Nicaragua is that when you stay at a small hotel, you quickly develop a rapport with the staff. This was not the case here. The staff was professional but distant. I felt like a hotel guest as I would in the US.

There is so much character in Granada that I suggest a smaller hotel and visit Hotel Spa Granada for the spa and restaurant only. The food is also fantastic!

I plan to visit the spa again, but will not stay in the hotel.
