This hotel is fantastic under every aspect. First of all, its advantageous position: close to everything there is in the centre of Milan, but still located in a very quiet side street. Second, its service, which is basically excellent. During daytime the staff is composed only by women (and apparently that is the secret of a their success!) and they are all extremely eager to make their clients’ stay perfect. As a proof of their zeal – apart from their incredible helpfulness – on a monthly basis, they write their personal tips about Milan with suggestions, prices and things to do and put them in every room, ready to be used. Another important feature of the hotel is the food which seems to be there to continually spoil you: a buffet breakfast is included in the price; fresh fruit, biscuits and bread are always at their clients’ disposition and a welcome-in complimentary snack is offered to those who have to wait for their check-in. Last, but not least, the hotel has an enviable collection of contemporary art with the fireplace as its masterpiece. Being it a design hotel, after all, nothing is left to chance even the rooms – which, despite the different kinds, are all very similar – are absolutely lovely and perfectly clean with aqua textiles and light blue wallpaper. I could not find anything bad here, just a perfect place for a perfect stay!Recommended for:

Retro styled boutique hotel a stone's throw from the Piazza del Duomo. Excellent location also because it is next door to the famous Peck. Rooms are styled minimalist modern in pale blue but are very comfortable and art work throughout the property provide attractive design in the public space. No restaurant except for breakfast service. Service was pleasant.

As if to compensate the Gran Duca di York (its sister hotel), once you see the Spadari’s building you have a hard time believing that that place could be nice inside. It was probably something else (offices?) before being converted into a hotel. Inside it is actually a pleasant place, with a monochromatic tendency given by the typical “carta da zucchero” colour (a kind of aviation blue), which has a soothing and relaxing effect. I particularly loved the bathroom, big, sparkly, bright, clean; even though this might sound weird, I was instantly put in a good mood at the very sight of it. The fireplace, which is the centre, symbol and very core of the hotel, was interesting and unique, like a real art masterpiece. Everything was polished to perfection and I loved the strong feeling of cleanliness that emanated from every room. I loved the complimentary soft-drinks in the mini-bar too…
