The Arguelles/Moncloa area are a personal favorite of mine for reasons I can’t quite articulate. I can get to either barrio by walking no more than fifteen minutes from my flat, no fuss, and no more than twenty or so via Metro. The sort of frustrating thing about this hotel is that it can be hard to find. You’ll see the huge sign towering over the building it’s in, but as you get closer to it, you might overlook the hotel itself. I walked it past it several times before realizing where it was. Silly, I know, but I think a hotel should stand out among other things on the street where it is, which is really a shame because one inside it’s a beautiful hotel that takes the time to make all the little things perfect for each and every guest.
Oh, now I remember why both areas have such an appeal. The Templo de Debod, a monument given to Spain by Egypt, is near both. It’s a beautiful park in an unsuspecting area. The beauty of it blew me away. If you stay in this hotel, make sure to pack a picnic lunch and spend a few hours soaking up the suns rays and taking in the scenery.Recommended for:

Hotel T3 Tirol is in a fantastic location, only 3 minutes walk to Arguelles metro station.
The hotel is really easy to find and the reception staff were very friendly. On the day that I arrived, there was a huge protest going on outside, but the minute that the front door closed behind me I could barely hear a thing. The breakfast buffet has a great selection and the coffee smelt delicious. The decor is really funky and warm.
If you're travelling with kids, they'll be well catered for. You can either book an adjoining room for them, or they can share the family room with you. Either way, they'll LOVE the kid friendly atmosphere and rooms!
If you're a business traveller, there are plenty of meeting rooms available to cater to meetings of all sizes.Recommended for:

The room was clean, modern and bright and, to be honest, pretty standard fare for this price range. But T3 Tirol has clearly decided the devil is in the detail. And good for them. The toiletries were Keiji brand, the linen was thick and soft and the shower pressure wonderfully powerful and sustained. Those little touches make a world of different. Don’t be afraid of getting an exterior room (facing the busy street), the sound proofing works a treat. And while there’s no room service or minibar, the hotel has a relationship with a few local food delivery places and every second floor has a well-stocked snack/drink machine. With no restaurant or bar, it’s unlikely you’ll be hanging in the hotel. But if you do end up with a few hous to kill, the recently renovated rooftop terrace is terrific. There’s big new arm chairs, showers for sunbathers and impressive city views. After dark the royal palace lights up in the distance, a fitting backdrop for an aperitif (BYO of course). Now, if only the wifi was free...
