Hotel Tomo is a cool hotel in San Francisco’s Japantown neighborhood. The area is very safe, providing quick access to shops and restaurants in both Japantown’s Miyako and Kintetsu Malls at Peace Plaza, as well as historic Fillmore Street. Cow Hollow is also walkable, though you’d have to go over some hills.
Anime fans will love the decor here. From the lobby to the rooms, there are vibrant drawings of Japanese-styled cartoons on the walls. The hotel is clean, chic and well-maintained, and the staff are all very professional and friendly (from the lobby staff to the cleaning staff). There is a restaurant (shabu shabu, nom nom nom!) and gym in the hotel, and they provide parking (paid) in the garage next door.
This is a great hotel for those looking to stay in a pleasant neighborhood while still having access to downtown (jump on the bus across the street and it’ll take you right to Union Square and beyond).

Hotel Tomo makes me squeal inside from all the adorable anime art. I absolutely love the decor because it's modern, but Japanese themed - from the lanterns in each room to the elevator's anime covered walls. The staff members are friendly and courteous. Everything is immaculately clean, and each room has their own Keurig coffeemaker. Amazing! There are a few computers for guests, free Wi-Fi, and a small fitness center is open from 8am-10pm on the 4th floor. I've also heard some great things about their restaurant Mums Home of Shabu Shabu located on the hotel's 1st floor. All you can eat and drink!
Hotel Tomo is close to Japantown, the Fillmore district, and just a short trek to Polk Street Corridor, so you can get great local cuisine, check out nearby dive bars, and also do a little bit of shopping. Public transportation is also close by, but if you have a car, parking is available for $33/day.
