This place wants to be a dive bar, but it's too beautiful to really qualify. With high ceilings and dark wood in the bar area, an intimate lower level performance stage, and a cozy upstairs lounge section, this music venue and tipple stop is both cute and casual. Stop in for a drink or see what entertainment's on for the night.Recommended for:

Live bands, cheap drinks, good friends. <3 $8 for cover, the bands play in a separate room and they are usually pretty amazing. My friend's boyfriend plays in a band called the Sunrunners. We watched them perform at Hotel Utah. THe sound quality was great, it was intimate, and the crowd was friendly and very supportive of the artists. They have Hoegaarden on tap!

Great little bar and restaurant in SOMA. They have one of my favorite beers—Magic Hat #9—so bonus points for that. The garlic fries are incredibly amazing, especially after a couple pints of the aforementioned beer. Haven't seen live music here yet, but it looks like it would make for a good venue.

One of my go to local spots. Love hanging out here. Good beer good burgers. Live music 7 nights a week. If you go for the band you might have to pay a cover but you can always sit in the bar area without paying a cover and you still get the music in the background.

My band, Festizio, performed here twice in a period separated by four years. Each time, the service was excellent and the staff were professional.
Hotel Utah may be the best "bar" bar in the SoMA area. With cheap pints, a great tap and very tasty food, it's a place you'll find normal regulars and not just white-collared office monkeys (no offense intended if you are a white-collared office monkey).
Amazing service. The woman who works here treats you like family.
