When you walk into this hip 1960s tiki-style hotel, you are greeted with the ‘Aloha’ spirit of Hawaii. The Hotel Valley Ho’s motto is displayed proudly- “a dash of hip and a twist of cool.” The lobby is wide open and it’s quiet. I notice a hoppin’ pool just outside of the bar so I walk outside and hear the beats pumpin’ hard. A mix of electric dance music fills the air. One thing to note: if you want to get in to this cool pool party on Saturday, you better get a room. Otherwise, you can visit the scene Sunday-Friday. This is what the Hotel Valley Ho is known for – A good time. Whether you are enjoying a ‘modern twist on classic American fare’ at Café ZuZu or pumping your hands in the air at the pool, you are sure to leave cooler than when you came.

Hip retro hotel in Scottsdale with a killer brunch on the weekends and fun parties thrown here every now and then. The pool is awesome, which is definitely where you'll want to spend most of your time to keep cool.

I was here on a gig, not as a guest. All the same, I have to say that the staff members I encountered were rude when I needed directions on site. The grounds are nothing special and neither are the rooms. Why would anyone stay here when you could stay at the Clarendon and get a beautiful hotel AND friendly service?

Hotel Valley Ho is one of a few top stays to experience Old Town Scottsdale. The hotel has the most bold architecture out of all the hotels in the area. I found myself wondering around the property checking it out. The rooms are worthy of the price tag. Hip, stylish with a touch of throwback always earns brownie points in my book. I asked some of the staff what their was to do over the weekend and got the answer I was looking for. All local recommendations of places and events not always on radar of travelers. I have all the confidence in the world in the staff their to make sure you have a great weekend! After parking your car, you can have an amazing weekend within walking distance with the convenient location.

I absolutely loved my stay here and will be sure to make it back. The retro architecture and design made for a more laidback atmosphere than most places I’ve stayed in Scottsdale.
Everything about the Valley Ho is inviting, the valets are friendly, the check-in staff was professional and quick, and the bar staff at Café Zuzu are just plain fun. I chose the Valley Ho to celebrate my birthday with a few friends and the staff was sure to make note of the special occasion. This was definitely a perk of staying at a more boutique and down-to-earth hotel.
The only negative thing I can say about my stay was about their rigid pool restrictions. Each room is allowed limited pool wristbands and it was a bit of a struggle to get an extra for a friend that came to visit who was not staying at the hotel. Overall, the Hotel Valley Ho is just plain cool.

The Valley Ho was as retro cool as ever on my second stay. The first time was with a friend for a girls' only weekend. The second was with my boyfriend, who loved how we felt we'd stepped out of the WABAC Machine into the 1960s--only I'm not sure if he thought he was Sherman or Mr. Peabody.
Service was smooth from the moment the valets opened our doors, at registration, and as we were shown to our room in one of the outer buildings. The studio guest room was crazy cool, with a Philippe Starck bathtub in the center and a martini-making station prepped for cocktail hour. I especially enjoyed the private patio that overlooked a peaceful greenspace surrounded by orange trees and tropical plants, and I spent a lot of time lounging on the double chaise.
For a holiday weekend, the property was surprisingly quiet, sowe spent a lot of time soaking in the atmosphere and relaxing in our room. When our friends visited, we explored the rest of the property, including the spa, gym, and, of most importance to him, the lounge. There are several seating areas, including by the fireplace off the lobby; the small, sunny courtyard near the entrance; and the lounge proper, with the bar. All are great places to hang out with friends and have a drink while listening to Frank crooning in the background.
Overall we loved our stay and rolled with a few minor issues. There were some lackadaisical gaffes made by housekeeping, but we also loved how quick the front desk was in removing an overcharge for valet service without question. But, having stayed here when there were more guests, I know this place can get a little rowdy, even though it wasn't our experience this time. However, on the Saturday night we were there, we were kept up by the live music carrying over from Trader Vic's just across the parking lot. If you are sensitive to noise at all, you should probably ask for an upper-floor room (rooms are not carpeted) and think about staying in the main building.
Too soon, after a wonderful Sunday brunch outdoors at the hotel's Cafe ZuZu, it was time to go. "Sherman--umm, Kevin--let us tally-ho from the Valley Ho. Next stop: North Scottsdale."
