- Hotel VQFirst to ReviewOct 28, 2013
The Hotel VQ is an octagon-shaped hotel that’s located pretty much in the middle of nowhere: Next door to Bronco’s stadium, alongside the I-25, and with a view of Elitches Amusement Park. (Basically, unless you’re going to a football game, there’s nothing within easy walking distance.) Inside, the VQ feels like any basic 2-star hotel you'd find in any American city. The rooms are clean and functional with old school TVs, microwaves and mini-fridges. (Unless you count the mismatched tiles in some of the bathrooms, the hotel is completely lacking in character). The only stand out feature about the hotel is the pool, which is well-kept and surrounded by comfy lawn chairs. If you're just passing through--or I guess if you're a die-hard Broncos fan--the VQ is fine. Otherwise, for the price, there are much better options in town.Recommended for:Family Travelers

The VQ has to be one of the strangest hotels in Denver. It's a circular-ish tower perched alongside the I-25 next the football stadium. While not terrible, I’m not exactly sure why anyone would actively choose to stay here. Yes, it’s got easy highway access and there are some good deals online, but that’s true of several other economy hotels that are more pleasant and have better services. (The Drury and Quality Inn come to mind.) The rooms aren’t awful, but certainly nothing special, with the awkward layout that buildings like this always create. I suppose if you were coming to Denver specifically to see a Broncos game, staying at the VQ would save you the cost and hassle of driving and parking--I will give the VQ that. And there’s a roof-top restaurant and bar (of course) but the view is mainly of the highway and the Elitch Gardens amusement park.
