Via dei Serpenti is definitely one of my favourite streets in the centre of Rome and what’s better than to look outside the window and see the Colosseum in the distance at the end of the road? The colours, the buildings in front and the hustle and bustle makes you experience the real essence of the city and it’s so central you can walk and visit all the ancient sites by foot or the tube isn't far. Some rooms have a kitchenette which is perfect if your stay for a week so as to have light meals every now and then. Even though the area is packed with great little restaurants and bars, it’s also nice to buy Italian fresh veg at a market and be able to eat in the room. There is a very basic breakfast brought to the room. Clean and simple and great location.Recommended for:

Small hotel on the second floor of a typical Roman building in the centre of the city. its a shame you cant use the lift! it’s private, only for the person upstairs! clean, tidy room, plain essential furniture with kitchenette if required and requested and minibar, a kettle and assortment of teas. spacious, clean shower room. simple, continental breakfast with juice and pastry. Situated in a characteristic area of Rome full of excellent little ‘osterie’ for genuine Roman cuisine, bars and typical food shops full of Italian treats. All this with the colosseum at the end of the street!Recommended for:

I love the Monti neighborhood, but was a bit worried when I walked up to the beat-up front door of the building and walked up the dark stairwell. However, to my relief, the door to the B&B opened and revealed a bright, modern and well-kept place! There are rooms on the first and third floors. Not sure if all the rooms have a corner kitchen and an en-suite bathroom, but the ones on the first floor did. It’s a good place to be if you want your independence. As for the location, you walk out of the main door and find the Colosseum practically at your doorstep! Plus, Monti is a great area to spend the evenings going to bars, restaurants or just hanging out and having a drink in one of its piazzas.

This amazing B&B/guesthouse setup is simply amazing. It's currently being renovated and updated, but don't let the looks intimidate you or put you off. The rooms are modern, comfortable with some amazing views of the surrounding neighborhood. The rooms also have A/C and some of them have kitchenettes, too. The bathrooms are spacious, too, and the proprietor really takes care of his guests and is always helpful and ready with information and tips. Highly recommend!
