The rooms are quirky small so don't plan on hanging out in there unless in the bed. Plenty of public spaces for lounging about if needed, and they are fun, sexy and designed with a Canadian hunting lodge feel and motif. The location is perfect for getting around, and the neighborhood has pretty much all you need - running trails thru Central Park, lots of shopping, warm bars and good food are all available at your doorstep. And the price is good as well.Recommended for:

A friend got this hotel for me with a slight discount. I wanted to stay overnight in the manhattan area before I moved to a friend's house in Brooklyn then Queens for a week. Great hotel, minimalist, so minimalist that there was even no Sign of the hotel name :) I guess its a snobbish way of saying if you can't find us then tough luck :) I wanna borrow such a great description of this hotel that they wrote Urban adventure, daredevil design, and true affordability meet in Hudson, the ultimate lifestyle hotel for the 21st century" They call the rooms compact - meaning tiny! However its really tastefully done. You can't have a huge suitcase or it will be difficult to open LOL You can't move a lot inside the bathroom cause water might spillover inside the room. Well space is really costly in this upscale neighbourhood specially if the TV series Sex in the City would regularly shoot here.Recommended for:

Rounding up from 3.5 stars. The lobby here is super cool and is has a great bar. Arriving you feel like a rock star. But the rooms were tiny, kind of like a shoebox. Classic Morgan's group hotel. The room was designed to look kind of like ships room, which made me feel better about how small it was. What surprised me was how small the beds were. I would avoid this place if you're taller than 5'10" your feet will stick off the end of the bed. The Wi-Fi worked okay and the fitness center was decent. The location was great to block off Central Park in walking distance from Times Square and Midtown. Pretty good for the price.Recommended for:

I enjoyed staying at the Hudson, but the room was very small. For one person is ok, but for two.. ??? I still love to hang out with friends at the bar, it is a classic place where you like to be seen. The hotel is very well situated and a short way to Columbus Circle and Central Park.

This hotel is so exclusive there is no sign outside.
After the initial confusion I have to say I was intrigued.
The lobby was hipster cool and I was taken care of quickly.
The room although modern(which I love)was tiny.
If you remember the first cruise you ever took and remember the initial shock you felt when you saw the room then you know..that feeling.
It was the smallest room I have ever seen in my life.
I was working in the travel industry at the time and requested to see others.
Even the suites were small.
The good thing is the location.
The hotel is across near Columbus Circle, Lincoln Center and Central Park.
If being uptown is what you're looking for you can't do better than this hotel.Recommended for:

Fun bar and various cool public places to hang-out. The rooms are tiny, but the design is modern and fun and the rooms are designed to make the most of a small amount of space. The service is not spectacular. Luckily, there are usually deals to be found and as far as NYC bargain hotels go, this is definitely much better than most.

Lovely public spaces. Convenient to Midtown / Times Square. The rates have dropped quite a bit so that it is actually reasonable value. Regardless, I hate this place. The rooms are tiny (as-in, you can touch both walls) and the staff here are abysmal. The hotel can also get quite loud. Walls are thin and the guests here like to party.Recommended for:

What a hidden gem! I'm actually talking about the Sky Terrace on the 15th floor. It's a beautiful place to visit, even if you're not a guest at the hotel. Make sure to make a reservation or else you risk not being able to get a table. The views are great and well worth the pricy drinks.Recommended for:

Awful. From the bad entrance (you have to take an escalator up to the lobby) to the checking out process. The rooms are minuscule and don't come with a lot of standard amenities including water to drink. Oh and good luck if you're there on a business credit card, the check-in can take over half an hour in that case.
Not that their website warns you. Aaaaand it smells like windex.
It gets 1 star because this app makes you give it a star and their chandelier and patio are pretty. Too bad about the rest.

Ian Schrager properties always deliver what I've come to expect...making the most of limited space with a borderline indescribable style that is completely unique from one property to the next. I would describe the Hudson's decore as 'rustic chic'. Very earthy, with great wood work. Behind the front desk is ivy growing on exposed brick...punctuated with a crystal chandelier, which is counter to the rest of the decore, but somehow works. Room is small but stylish. Service/staff have been extremely nice and helpful.

The Hudson hotel was one of the most interesting hotel experiences I ever had. As you enter the hotel, there is a feeling that you're been transformed to another world. The hotel is designed beautifully on the inside, one long escalator takes you up one floor to a low lit lobby, with an impressive chandelier and beautiful vines embrace the glass ceiling, blocking out sunlight - making you lose a sense of time, which is actually a nice twist :)
The rooms are really small. But the attention to detail is amazing. The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to get around while visiting in NY.

The Hudson Hotel is a boutique hotel overlooking the Hudson River. The rooms are small but well-designed to use the space well. The view is gorgeous, a mix of city, river and park. It's close to 5th avenue, Times Square and Central Park. The hotel lobby is chic with an atrium and there is a bar/dance floor for fashionistas. If you're looking for an uber cool place to stay, this is it!

Super hip and exclusive; you have to know exactly where you are headed or you'll miss this hotel since the name is not plastered on the main entrance as most hotels do. This makes a strong statement that this is not your average hotel.
You'll love the public areas including the lobby and my favorite, the Private Garden, which is located directly behind the front desk offers the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle with delicious cocktails (Cucumber Collins is my 2011 Summer Favorite) but no food. But I had my Yorkie Fergie with me without any problems so maybe that has something to do with the policy. All Morgan's properties are pet-friendly.
Cons: Attitude from the bar staff and hot hallways and elevators!
The concierge staff is amazing and got us front row seats at "Billy Elliott" on Broadway!Recommended for:
