Hugo's is an L.A. staple with fresh, healthy, organic food that will please the adults in your group, and an extensive kid's menu (and paper and crayons to play with at the table) to please the younger diners.Recommended for:Family Travelers

Incredibly delicious and whole food made with the freshest/healthiest ingredients. There's such a wide selection of food and TONS of vegetarian/vegan alternatives as well. I loved my chai yerba matte latte immensely as well

I like restaurants with options. Hugo's definitely has options. The menu has little symbols on it for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, so it makes it really easy to find something to eat.
It sounds like this is a great breakfast restaurant, but I'm not a big eating-out-for-breakfast kind of person, so we went here for dinner.
The wife and I shared a salad, she had the green risotto and I had the tofu mole. I have never had mole before, so I don't really know how this one compares to others, but I liked it. It was just a little spicy, just the right amount without going overboard. The green risotto was good, but a bit watery.
The food was decent, the prices reasonable (less than $50 for two w/out drinks), but the service was kind of off. We had one server, then all of a sudden we had a different server without any mention of the change. We didn't really know what happened because the first server was still working, just not at our table.
The entrees came out before we were even halfway done with the salad. We hardly had room for it all on the little table! But when it was time to get our check, we had to wait and wait for it. Their timing just seemed to be off.
Food brought to the table quickly
Had to wait (and wait) for the check

A cute little diner style place on Santa Monica Blvd in the heart of West Hollywood. Susan Feniger was known to have said that they have unique takes on American fare that will tantalize your taste buds. I thought it was alright. Still, the french toast I had was unique and it's great place to people watch.

As a Los Angeles native, I must say that Hugo's Restaurant is an L.A. staple. I must frequent Hugo's 3x a week when I'm back home. What's awesome about Hugo's is that the menu provides a large variety without sacrificing quality, is both meat and veg-friendly, and serves healthy, organic, and antibiotic-free meat. They are super accommodating, with options for almost any dietary restriction (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc). They also have the create-a-bowl or create-a-plate option which allows you to custom design your own meal and sample lots of different yummy items. For breakfast, I highly recommend Pasta Mama (pasta scrambled with eggs, garlic, parsley, parmesan cheese and special dressing) for your wife and Pasta Papa (same idea but with some hearty meat) for you, or the Go-Green Frittata- complete with tons of green veggies. They also have great ethnic-inspired foods, like the Mung Beans & Rice burrito, Tika Masala Plate, and a simple Asian-Stir Fry. I can honestly say, whatever you're in the mood for or whatever your dietary restrictions may be, Hugo's will be able to deliver a delicious and satisfying meal. And just to make it even more of an L.A. experience: their Studio City location often attracts a high profile celeb crowd.
**If you're traveling on a budget, Hugo's Tacos across the street from their Studio City location offers AMAZING food and a similar menu for much cheaper! (Everything is under $10 and the average is around $6).
Have a great time and enjoy L.A.!
