Sweet little spot. I'd never been to a Hyatt House and I was really impressed. My room felt more like an apartment with maid service than a hotel. Loved that I could choose between eating out in nearby Downtown and Uptown (the nicer neighborhood that's just adjacent to Downtown) or I could cook in. Felt like I was back in college with just the bare essentials in my kitchen but it worked. And reminds me of how much of my at-home clutter in the kitchen is unnecessary. The courtyard in the center of the building is where you can do a little pool-side grilling. Make a day of it and hang around for social hour in the lobby. Or grab some beers from the convenience store and chillax by the pool. Be sure and check out the Katy Trail which is just around the corner. A 3.5 mile bike and foot path that’s great for morning workouts and if you're into home tours, head up Turtle Creek. Some of the most beautiful homes in Dallas right along this path.Recommended for:

Unfortunately for the employee at Hyatt House Dallas/Uptown, he chose to show me a room that smelled horribly. He immediately apologized, telling me it needed to be deodorized. There was an enormous dark stain on the sofa, with other smaller stains too. I would not have sat on it, and I am not a picky person when it comes to germs. I will say the staff was extremely casual, more like staying with friends than staying at a hotel. This can be good and bad. The old reviews of this hotel are for the Hyatt Summerfield Suites, but this was sold and renamed Hyatt House. Much needed remodeling are supposedly scheduled for November of 2014. Located in Uptown, but it is not in the heart of Uptown. It's a 25-minute walk to the main strip of bars/restaurants. They will shuttle you there for free. Free drinks and appetizers Mon-Fri from 5:30-7:30, but after seeing the sofa and rooms, I'm skeptical about the quality of the food. It's worth the money for the location, but not for the accommodation.Recommended for:
