- Hyatt on the Bund
The Hyatt on the Bund is luxurious and comfortable without being over-the-top ostentatious—the VUE bar being the notable exception, with its hot tub and spectacular views of the Shanghai skyline. The expansive front lobby is entirely lit by natural light that floods in from floor to ceiling windows. The feeling of earthy tranquility extends to the juice bar and especially to the well-appointed spa area, where black pebbles and water features transport you to another (much calmer) world. The rooms all come outfitted with incredibly comfortable beds and exceptional views, with nearly 80 percent facing the Shanghai riverfront. In terms of location, The Hyatt places you squarely on the north Bund, which is nice for sightseeing but removes you a little from the heart of the city’s bustling action.Recommended for:

An ideal spot to stay at if you want to be at the center of it all. Within walking distance is The Bund and Nanjing Road, both renowned in their own right. The hotel is gorgeous in of itself; they really took the time to make it appealing to visitors.
At the very top floor of the hotel lies Vue Bar (see review here http://www.gogobot.com/vue-bar-at-hyatt-on-the-bund-shanghai-attraction). Hotel residents are able to go into the bar for free (100 RMB for visitors), so it's definitely worth checking out!
The staff is extremely accommodating and hospitable; I find it that wherever I stay in Shanghai, many of the hotel and restaurant staff are far more accomodating than what we have in the US. Overall, be prepared to fork over a good amount to stay here, so penny pinchers need not apply.Recommended for:

Pretty good North Bund location, great for wandering around the Bund area on a nice day and over to East Nanjing Shopping Street. Not exactly central but very close to many of the traditional Shanghai tourist stops. All the rooms have views of both sides of the Huangpu River which is pretty rare and quite stunning to see the contrast between traditional Shanghai from the early 20th century and present day Shanghai. Vue bar has the same views and great cocktails so be sure to head up there one night to check out the city all lit up, lights go off by about 11pm so be sure to head up pretty early to make the most of the space. The Hyatt also has a huge 24hr gym, loads of machines and a studio with Yoga, Pilates, and Taichi classes for guests. There’s a really nice juice bar right outside the gym with great fresh juice that is very rejuvenating after a long work out.

The Hyatt on the Bund is everything you would expect from the hotel goliath, with a few extra surprises. Since no city can have two Grand Hyatts and the one in the SWFC (IFC?) beat them to the punch, the Hyatt on the Bund is to the caliber of a Grand Hyatt, with a few polished touches. The massive atrium fills the lobby with natural light. The staff is kind, smiling and greets everyone with a “good afternoon”. The rooms are all river view rooms, so everyone gets a stellar view. The “back” of the hotel is a glass wall that houses the elevators. Charlie and the Chocolate factory anyone? The rooms are carefully thought out, with the beds facing the river; theres nothing better to wake up to than sunshine over the Huangpu, and nothing more thrilling than the sparling lights of Pudong at night. The bathrooms are equipped with a full bath, shower and separate room for the toilet. The room is stocked with a city guide as well as information about the historic Shanghai Bund. The highlight of the hotel, and a reason to visit even if you aren’t a guest, is the VUE bar on the 32nd floor. Offering a sweeping view of not only the Pudong skyling, but also the Bund, the view is arguable the best one in town. Grab a drink and enjoy the open air 270deg view of China’s biggest and most modern city. After filling up on their famous Peking duck at XinDaLu, the Chinese restaurant on the first floor, you can hit up the 24h fitness center that is bigger than most gyms in the city and has a separate yoga studio. Seriously, these machines are state of the art, in pristine condition and there are a lot of them… I’m considering changing my gym membership! The Bund is a 15minute walk from the hotel, and on the way you cross over Suzhou creek. It’s a great place to stay if you’re in town on business and spend your day in financial district and have a great meal on the bund by night.
