The Hyatt Regency has one of the best views of Boston I've seen, a full panorama of the river and city. When rowing is in season, it's packed with tall, lanky athletes and their coaches, ready to compete in the Head of the Charles. The hotel itself has done an admirable job of updating some 1980s features. The small bathtub nonetheless has a rainforest shower head, and the beds are soft but ridiculously comfortable. There's a pool and sauna, good for getting rid of stress. Paying for wifi kind of sucks, and is pricey at 12.95 per day. There is also no public transportation near the hotel, so you're kind of forced to take cabs everywhere, which gets expensive quickly. All in all, comfortable, relaxed, but not mindblowing.

If you need to be close to MIT or BU, this is a good choice for hotel. It is on the Charles, so if you are runner or like to be close to the water, the hotel does not get any better.
However, it is not necessarily very close to restaurants or coffee shops. The closest one is a good 20 minute walk so if you are about that, take note.
Despite all that, the hotel has large and comfortable rooms. The beds are awesome and the room is well appointed. There's a safe, iron, and all the typical amenities of a modern hotel today.
With its pyramid-like shape, this hotel is very airy and has tons of lights in its common areas. The indoor facing balconies that some rooms have are pretty funny. One early evening I witnessed a couple having drinks while watching the elevator traffic (they are clear and exposed to the interior of the building), I guess.
So the outside is a little outdated, a little 80's but if you are attending in this hotel, you can't go wrong by staying at Hyatt Regency Cambridge.

The general atmosphere in the lobby is casual, yet somewhat lively: the colorful carpets and subdued lighting catch the eye immediately, and the glass elevators allow you to take in the whole of the space (there are also multiple entrances, and it’s easy to confuse the back from the front if you’re coming from off the street). The health club is a bit of a hike from the hotel itself, over a walkway and up a second elevator, but the pool is of a significant size. I found the rooms to be well-stocked and arranged but still a bit small. It’s not in the most convenient location but the view is nice and there are shuttles provided, as well as a bus route nearby (the CT2) that can get you to Kendall Square and Sullivan Station. At the same time, there’s a parking garage if you choose to drive. It’s a pleasant enough property for those planning on a more leisurely stay, and it does boast a fantastic view out over the Charles.

The Hyatt Regency Cambridge might be the most unique looking hotel in Metropolitan Boston – it looks more like something you’d see on the Vegas strip than on Memorial Drive. It’s unfortunate that the inside of the hotel isn’t as unique as the outside is. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good hotel with an open feel, something I like. But the rooms were on the small side. The rooms do have a make-up station though, which feels almost unneeded given how small the room is on the whole. Also the gym/pool area isn’t the easiest to get to. The hotel is also a good distance from anything of note, but the CT1 bus stops nearby which goes to Kendall Square. Its location, however, does give a good view of Boston over the Charles River.
