Wow. Great hotel. The pools are fantastic, especially if you have kids. There are water slides, caves and lots of fountains. The rooms are very nice. The brunch on weekends is spectacular, with great food and an amazing dining room in what feels like a tropical garden. The only trick, as with much of Ka'anapali, is that what is advertised as "beach-front" is more like "ocean-front" - the beach right in front of the hotel has no place for spreading a towel - the water comes right up to the embankment. Ka'anapali beach is only a couple of minutes walk, so not a huge deal, but I would have liked to know this in advance.

Did I just see penguins? Yes, they have penguins....and a Macy's. in the resort. This is a large resort on the Kaanapali coast. It has a garden and some animal exhibits (like the penguins). The area where the breakfast buffet has a pond with swans as well. The rooms are a good size with lanais. There are Hawaiian quilts above the beds as well. This resort partners with the other mega resorts along the Kaanapali beachwalk boardwalk for some water sports, including surfing lessons. This hotel also has a luau onsite

I stayed here a few years ago when I ran the Maui 1/2 Marathon. Thank god for the hot tub once the run was over! I was very impressed with this resort. The property has wonderful restaurants and the pool here rocks! I think its probably the best pool on the west side if you are into water slides. Its also within walking distance to the world famous Kaanapali Beach, great golfing, and shopping. Next time I need a west side escape, I'd do it here.

The first time I stayed at this resort was when i was 12 years old. It still looks the same, for the most part, and there are a lot of redeeming qualities in this resort. The pools are impressive, there are quite a few good restaurants, and the grounds are very unique with exotic birds and animals.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel has a free parking area if you follow the signs for “Spa Moana / Guest Self Parking”. Go all the way down that driveway and park in one of the Beach Access spaces. We like the very Hawaiian Macy's shop, with extensive ladies swimwear and mens shirts. Be sure to visit the penguins in the lobby area, and the swans in one of the ponds. The Hyatt is also a nice place to start a walk all the way up Kaanapali Beach and back, on the sidewalk next to the sandy beach. From one end to the other and return is about 10,000 steps!

    This hotel is beautiful!
It has a great pool and tons of restaurants and bars for all tastes.
What I really liked was the children's program.
I don't have children but I appreciate resorts that cater to families and give the little ones things to do.
The rooms are huge and well appointed.
The only minus for me is that this stretch of Kaanapali Beach has almost no beach.

Old school property on beautiful Ka'anapali Beach, this rambling resort has a whole lot going for it. There are terrific restaurants and an excellent spa. Book an oceanside massage with Helena and take advantage of the excellent free classes, especially yoga with Karen. Do not miss the stargazing programs, offered nightly. Amazing! This place is very popular with families, which might bum out grownups looking for something quiet and chill. But you can likely find the privacy you crave by heading down to the beach. Would definitely return.

My wife and I stayed here on the second leg of our honeymoon. The hotel is huge! There are three separate towers. Try and stay in the main tower or the north tower I believe. One of the towers looks at the area where they do luau twice a wee and can get loud. The entrance/lobby is nice. It was under construction when we were there. The room are very dated but when you are there you really aren't in the room that much. We had a nice ocean front room that peaked through the palm trees. The resort as a whole is awesome. There is a very large pool that has several different sections (cave/grotto with a bar, waterfall, family play section, water slide and more. Get to the pool early if you expect to get a good spot. The hotel is also within walking distance to the Whaler's Village. The bars and restaurants are nice but expensive which you would expect.

Everyone receives a lei upon check-in. Beautiful hotel with Chinese themed grounds with multiple pools, water slides, and caves. Orchids everywhere. Rooms all come with a balcony usually either facing the beach or the golf course.

Nice resort at the south end of Kaanapali Beach. Several restaurants and its own waterfall. The gardens are excellent in the lobby and surrounding the resort.

The Hyatt Regency in Maui brings a whole new meaning to the word "resort." From penguins in the lobby, to soft linens in the rooms, to a beautiful pool complete with caves, waterfalls and a water slide, to wonderful restaurants and a divine spa, not to mention the views across the water with Lanai in the distance, everything at the Hyatt defines the word "excellence."

The resort itself is beautiful. There are lush gardens and animals all around. The two large pools are nice. One is more active (with water slides), while the other is better for relaxing. A grotto bar connects the two. The rooms were large and well appointed and the beds were quite comfortable.

The tropical gardens, the lavish breakfast, the beautiful recreation area along with the delicious cocktails served by the pool are certainly the competitive features of this resort. Meanwhile, the standard room has a balcony that offers nice partial views of the beach and mountains, but it was due to an upgrade as its fixtures were old and the bedding worn (as of 2006). In addition, it is the first resort on the Kaanapali seashore, thus the sand portion is rocky. The package is relatively overvalued, still the property is very nice.
