Located near Place Des Arts metro station and in Chinatown the Hyatt Regency has great transport links to the rest of the city, Including the Gille Villeneuve F1 circuit. On walking in to the foyer you're greeted with a 5 star lobby experience, but the deeper you move in to the hotel the less satisfied you become. The rooms are comfortable but for what you pay they seem... Glum, uninteresting and emotionless. The bar area however is relaxing, modern and fresh. They have a pool table too. The hotel has a swimming pool, however it's very small. Free wifi isn't one the options you get here, if you want wifi it ranges from $20 per day for a 5mb connection and $9 for a 1.5mb connection. I suggest walking across the road for the free wifi in Starbucks. Overall ok but I wouldn't come back.

Although the hotel was under construction, everything was well run and under control. They offered me a choice of several things to make up for the construction - I chose the 1000 points. My room was nice and clean. The bar is open until midnight. Love that the hotel is above the Complexe Desjardin - very convenient, especially if you want to take the underground pathway to the convention center at Palais des Congres.

I went straight to the bar. This wide open concept that does a nice job of looking trendy, but has that generic trendy feel if you catch my drift, as if I were on parents Island at Disney world. The huge lobby is a great place to congregate and meet people; however it being connected to the elevators of Place Desjardins, a shopping mall in the center of Montreal, loses that private feel I enjoy at a hotel. Situated directly in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles, I guess that makes sense in order to attract more pedestrian traffic from the various festivals to the restaurant and bar, but personally, I prefer a hotel to be a little more cut off. However if I had a family coming to the city, the Hyatt would make a lot of sense, the big swimming pool looked like fun, if I were 8 years old playing with the other kids; on the other hand the balconies looking over Ste-Catherine street must be pretty sweet for some summer time people watching. All in all a nice hotel, but I look for something a little different when I’m traveling.Recommended for:

I stayed here a few years ago when I accompanied my husband on a business trip. The location was great because there is a shopping mall adjacent to the hotel that you can access without having to go outside (great if the weather is bad). I remember a lot of attractions were within walking distance, and the indoor pool was fabulous. In fact, because the mall was nearby and I didn't bring a swimsuit, I was able to get one at the mall, come back to the hotel, and go swimming.
