The Hyatt Regency's location cannot be beat. Located directly above the Embarcadero BART and MUNI station and adjacent to the Ferry Building, it's pretty easy to get anywhere from here. The lobby is beautiful, especially at Christmas when they create an entire miniature village over the fountain.

It's close proximity to the Embarcadero Center means there are plenty of shopping and food choices around. Of course, you also have the rest of downtown to explore.

The hall of this hotel is absolutely fantastic, so wide and high. On one side there is a corridor, connecting the rooms, directly looking at the hall, with gorgeous plants growing and enriching the environment. It is a very silent place and a very elegant hotel.

This is a review of the main space: This Hyatt is HUGE. In the main atrium area there is a big light sculpture hanging down from the ceiling. Check that out. Hotel as a whole is very convenient, being a block from the Ferry Building and in the financial district.

The soaring 10+-story open lobby makes this hotel out-of-the-ordinary for so many reasons, especially during the Christmas season. During that time, "snow" falls from the top of the atrium several times a day. Guests will find accommodations from modest to grand, and the location--right on the BART and major bus lines--couldn't be better. Chinatown is a 15-minute walk, as are San Francisco's premier shopping areas, including Union Square. The Ferry building, with shops, week-end farmer's market, and access to the entire bay area via ferries is right across the street.

I absolutely love staying in this hotel. It's convenient to many great restaurants and bars in the Financial District, as well as the Embarcadero and the Stadium. The main lobby is beautiful, but can be a little dizzying if you have a room overlooking it by too many stories up. Not a great place if you're afraid of heights, but otherwise a very nice, semi-luxurious place to stay. There are also excellent conference facilities here - which is why I have stayed - so do consider this as a potential place to host any kind of large event or meeting.

My girlfriends and I had a staycation in SF and Priceline booked this 4-star hotel for us. We totally scored! I'd previously been here for a company holiday party and really enjoyed the beautiful atrium architecture of the hotel. The convenient location (right at the Embarcadero BART/Muni station and a short walk from The Embarcadero and AT&T Park), friendly service, modern amenities, and low price made it an ideal hotel for our short stay.

We were checked in by Tsering, who was super accommodating and a gracious host. Our double room was on a high floor with a great view of the city. The host at Eclipse, the hotel bar/restaurant, was also all smiles when we stopped in for their daily happy hour that goes until 7:30pm. We enjoyed $5 well drinks and house wines and a $4 hummus and pita plate.

Valet parking is a whopping $57, so you might want to park inside the Embarcadero Center parking garage instead for $35/day or if you happen to be arriving after 6pm on a Saturday like we had, you can park on the street and leave it there as the meters are free after 6pm on Saturday and all day on Sunday.

Will definitely stay here again the next time we want to overnight it in the city!

This was in 1980, the last stop on my first ever coast-co-coast tour of the US. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were slugging it out for the White House (hmm, how did that turn out?). The San Francisco Hyatt (which I chose because I'd seen it in Mel Brooks's movie HIGH ANXIETY) was the most luxurious hotel I'd ever stayed in. That atrium! The quality of the rooms, the restaurants, the service. It was still looking pretty good when I visited it again 25 years later. Rock on!

Very nice hotel, restaurant, and conference rooms, but the bathrooms in the rooms are dated. Shower is small and water pressure isn't great. Not the greatest views, but if you ask for a bay view on a high floor it will have nice views

Love the holiday spirit of the Hyatt. They put on a great holiday show with carolere, dance performances, and their beautiful lights throughout the hotel ceiling. Makes the guest feel cozy and happy with holiday glee.

Love this Union Square hotel! Booked on priceline negoitator and got a screamin' deal!

Best: top floor bar with views of the city, great handcrafted bloody mary & very helpful staff
Bad: valet can be pricey look for other garages nearby

We walked everywhere... China town, little italy & even Pier 23 ... Great location!

I will be coming again for another overnight in the City!!

The view from the lobby is amazing look up the the rooms. Go up to the top revolving restaurant called "Equinox" and you can see the 360 view of SF downtown (not sure its opened now, check first).

I love this location! I always stay in Union square and never thought to come over to the quieter, cleaner Embarcadero side of SF. Fell in love with the "blade runner" like architecture of this building. The interior is huge and so futuristic.

Our room was also a highlight. We had a standard double bed set up AND we actually had a sliding glass door that opened! I could see my car parked below!

Next time I am in town for a staycation, this will be my go-to Hotel!

We held a mini BLUE on Tour festival here during the California and the World Ocean Conference 2010. The event space and technical help was fantastic. We would love to come back here and show more films! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful - a perfect oasis from the city street below.

Nice Hyatt, great location if you need to be in the Embarcadero area. But, I wouldn't really stay here if I wasn't going to be spending most of my time in the Embarcadero or Financial districts. Yes, it's right by a Bart and Muni stop, but feels like a convention hotel.

The Hyatt Regency is one of the best hotels in the city, if you want to depend on public transportation on getting around. It's right by the BART stop, and is conveniently located by the Embarcadero and Embarcadero Center - plenty of restaurants, shopping destinations, and buses, too! The hotel interior is pretty standard, but the rooms are contemporary and up-to-date! A short distance from good nightlife, too (Sens & Osha Thai are right in the center).

Totally ordinary Hyatt in a great location if you need to be downtown in San Francisco. Great atrium for a drink, though.
