Walking into the Hyatt Regency feels like you are entering a futuristic space pod designed by wealthy eccentric from the 90's. There are lots of angular clean lines, minimalist benches and furniture, mirrors, wide curving dark wood panels, all bathed in the glow of cool blue lighting. Oddly enough, I found the effect quite attractive!
The futuristic approach continues in the rooms with more wood paneling, minimalist docor, and modern touches in the bathroom. I really appreciated the media desk, which lets you connect your computer to the TV (who needs cable anyways!), and stylish and spacious bathrooms.
Other great elements include an outdoor pool/patio combo, great for people watching during the warmer months, especially during the Toronto International Film Festival, close proximity to a ton of fantastic restaurants, and the chance to run into some famous athletes (this hotel is quite popular with visiting teams!).

The Hyatt Regency is a giant, white behemoth of a hotel that is enviably located right next to the TIFF Bell Lightbox in the Entertainment District. Inside the lobby it's all black, white, sleek and shiny -- as are the people. Apparently this is where sports teams put up their players, and it definitely has an international, slightly impersonal feel. Rooms are compact, clean and have helpful extras like a media desk, which lets you plug you computer into the TV. There's an outdoor pool on the 17th floor, and from the patio you can see down onto the TIFF Rooftop lounge, where stars throw sexy parties during the film festival. In fact there are great views all around in this hotel, and its central location close to the theatres, Roy Thompson Hall and plenty of restaurants and bars makes the Hyatt a great base for exploring the city.
