Located just 20-minutes from Cabo San Lucas, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is a relatively new resort that has had some good deals in the past year. The rooms are very upscale and comfortable and the grounds are manicured and well-tended but the rest (food, service, entertainment) is pretty standard--good for a long weekend, not so great after a week. There is a beach onsite too--it's beautiful but often too rough to swim in (ie perfect for sunning and beachcombing though). All in all, this is a nice enough place to stay--not quite the 5-stars it claims to be but a good value nonetheless.Recommended for:

Barcelo is a great resort where you can get a bit more of a premium all-inclusive experience. It is located in San Jose del Cabo on the more mellow part of Cabo, so the Cabo San Lucas party strip is not nearby if you're looking for that experience (probably ~20 minutes away). However, if you're looking for days of awesome poolside relaxation and good service, staying at this resort is all you need. Considering that the food is all-inclusive, it is pretty good. And free drinks all day long? Yes, please. I went with my parents and younger sister to celebrate her college graduation, and we have no regrets about Barcelo. It was an excellent choice for us. If you are looking for a more romantic, super luxurious resort (probably better for two), Palmilla is incredible. Notable things:
- The gym. It's great--full of new equipment, including treadmills and weights. The room is nice and cool with a view of the main pool area below. Stay hydrated with water flavored with citrus or pear slices.
- Go the the spa for any special deals. During our stay, they had several specials including a Couples Massage for $140 (the same massage for a single person is around $100).
One thing that I would have liked is a mini orientation or so on arrival. You check-in, and the staff is nice, but I felt like you're sort of off on your own after that. The resort has various bars, lounges, game rooms; it also has activities planned throughout the day (e.g. beach volleyball, yoga, etc). You sort of have to figure that out on your own. Another thing to figure out is the Specialty Restaurants situation. Depending on how many days you're visiting, you get a certain number of nights to dine at one of the several Specialty Restaurants, a sit-down meal where you choose your entrees, unlike the standard buffet experience. I don't think the Specialty Restaurants had food that met my expectations, considering that they are "specialty" and all. I'd rather go to the buffets and choose my own favorites.Recommended for:

I'll keep it short. Nice and easy trip. No heated outdoor jacuzzis. Food left something to be desired. Service was sub standard for these kinds of places. Spa was great but pricey. Entertainment every evening was nice but at times hokey. Large facility that has nice amenities but lacks in service. Beach was not private so trinket hawkers all around. We still had a great time but definitely not a 4 or 5 star experience.
