Hydra is a beautiful island a few hours from Athens, Greece. There are no vehicles allowed (only 2 trucks on the whole island) so all transportation is by donkey or bicycle. The town is very picturesque, and the water is crystal clear. I wish I could have spent more than an hour or two there.

So much culture and boy are they proud of it. Everyone there practically told us their history. The museums are full of amazing artifacts and pretty much everywhere you go you will see an important piece of their history. The city if very crowded and loud though but still exciting and new.

Piraeus is the port for Athens and a major departure point for ferries to outlying islands. Central Athens is only 6 miles away to the Northeast. We drove from Athens to stay in Tolo. There are amazing views of the surrounding mountains & islands in this beautiful area. There's a long shingle/sand beach & a busy little fishing harbour. Good choice of shops, tavernas & bars without it feeling over commercialised.

These sights are beautiful, very rich in history but a bit ...

It is noted noted as the site of ruins of an ancient Greek temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea in classical mythology.
