My husband and I went to Cancun for Christmas. The resort had only been open since the beginning of December and upon arrival you could definitely feel the growing pains they are having. Check-in took awhile but once we were checked in we liked the room. Food was mediocre...I wish we would have been informed upon booking that we should make reservations for the specialty restaurants before arrival. We found out upon arrival that we would only be able to eat at the Buffet for dinner for the first four nights...luckily the food at the buffet wasn't bad...it wasn't great either but the staff was awesome...two of the waiters would save us a spot at breakfast and lunch and made us feel special even though we were one of MANY people they served each day. The Star Friends were also great but he nighttime entertainment was super cheesy. I think the front desk staff need to take some lessons from the servers in the buffet on what customer service looks like. I would go back to this hotel but I think I would wait until they are a bit more organized...and I also wouldn't expect good food.
