This is a wonderful place for second or third time visitors to Budapest. The Ibis Budapest Heroes’ Square name says it all as it hangs its reputation on facing Heroes’ Square and the main Városligeti Park. While the hotel itself is nothing to write home about as it is a bit generic, it is clean and friendly and once you walk out of the door you are only a few steps away from a Budapest Disneyland that offers a myriad of possibilities even for the most inveterate travellers to Budapest and many locals as well. Heroes’ Square, a destination in itself is sandwiched between the Fine Arts Museum and the enormous Műcsarnok which presents major temporary exhibitions. Behind Heroes’ Square is the Városligeti City Park that contains several oddball museums, the most popular bath house in Budapest, the Széchényi, as well as the zoo, a carnival, an amusement park, a few hip summer bars, and a Budapest dining institution, the Gundel Restaurant that has faded a bit in recent years, but for many oldtimers represents the epitome of Hungarian cuisine. While it is not going to win any beauty contests, for the shrewd three star traveller that wants easy access to five star amenities, this is a sure bet.

This pink and grey architectural relic from the 1980s looks from the outside as if Miami Vice had landed on the Russian Riveria, but it is much less aesthetically challenging from within. Besides, it is only just a stone’s throw away from the magnificence of Heroes Square and the tranquillity of City Park. This is a good location if you want to be only a taxi ride away from bars and nightlife, but prefer to stay in a smart residential area. In this case, the ambassadorial district of Pest. Traffic on Dozsa Gyorgy can be a tad noisy at night. Non smokers will have to ask for a non smoking room, while the rest of us can still happily puff away in the remainder of the rooms. Bathrooms are a little on the small side in a lot of the accommodations, but they are clean enough and staff generally helpful.

Perhaps a bit out of the way but the location is “just right” if you are planning to take the waters at the Szecheny baths, enjoying city park, the Zoo and the delightful restaurants around and in the park.
The Ibis is a bargain for a three star hotel. The immediate surrounding area is well maintained, the rooms are attractive, bright and sunny with a desk area running along the window. Bath is equipped with a shower and is spacious. There is no coffee service provided in the room.
Colors are neutral throughout. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room but may be added for 9.5 Euros. Breakfast room is somewhat reminisce of a McDonalds. Transportation into city center is available by bus and trolley or walk to the yellow underground.
Ibis Budapest Vaci Ut features multilingual staff, currency exchange, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. Additional property amenities include air conditioning in public areas.
Wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge; guestrooms also offer direct dial phones. Rooms also include desks and clock radios. Guests may request irons/ironing boards and hair dryers.
