If you've ever wanted to have your Starbucks in a replica of the Shah Mosque of Esfahan, Ibn Battuta is your kind of place. Named after the Muslim version of Marco Polo, Ibn Battuta, I wonder if during all his travels, he could have ever guessed that he'd end up as the name sake on yet another ginormous mall in Dubai.

As a mall, it's honestly not the greatest: the stores are a little down-market, and it's all on one level. But as a weird only-in-Dubai kind of attraction, it's pretty amazing. The theme is the travels of Ibn Battuta, a 14th-century Moroccan who went all over his known world. So each section of the mall is designed like one big area he visited: Egypt, Persia, China, India... And there are all kinds of displays about Islamic history and science. So really, it's sort of a museum too.

Very crowded on Fridays. a bit of a walk. based on the famous traveller Ibn Battuta's journey around Asia and Africa. the 5 pavillions are each themed around a country (Iran, Morocco, China, etc.)

If there is one mall you absolutely cannot miss out on, it's this one (although that's hard for me to say when we're talking about Dubai). Absolutely breathtaking architecture and design built into a modern day shopping mall.

It seems odd to be sitting at Starbucks whilst being in awe of your surroundings. This mall is smaller than it's steroid taking brothers, but it is gorgeous! Get a latte, buy a cheap top at H & M, and then get a history lesson about Ibn Battuta's travels.

A neat mall, but a mall nonetheless. They're a dime a dozen here.
