Ideal Social is your typical hostel…with a definite Argentinean flair. Pictures of Carlos Gardel (the father of tango), tango dancers, and Buenos Aires night scenes decorate the lobby and living room. When I first came in, a group of young people from the world over – Korea, the US, Colombia – all sat around one of the several circular tables watching a soccer match from a television hung in a corner. This 24-room hostel comes with a bar, kitchen, and my favorite – a balcony furnished with a few chairs and tables looking onto a busy BA street. Every room is locked with a code and comes equipped with safes to store your belongings. You can request single-sex rooms or be placed in a mixed room. It has a cool vibe and a young, international clientele.Recommended for:

This hostel was cool. They offered free salsa classes in the hostel once a week and there were two large communal kitchens which were really well equipped. The areas close to the rooms were designated quiet areas, making it easy to go to bed early and sleep well. The breakfast/bar area at the front of the hostel was the place where all the “pre-drinking” sessions were organized. There was also the chance to join the staff on football-related activities - you could go to see a match or sign up to a game of football with other people staying at the hostel. The huge ceilings made the place feel light and airy and the cleaning staff were really cheerful, which isn’t normally what you find in a budget hostel with so many rooms to manage.Recommended for:

This hostel is very modest, but the friendly staff makes sure that it's always fun and conducive to making friends. There's a little bar area, a kitchen, and different sized rooms, including a 12-bed dorm if you're in a really tight budget or travelling in a large group. The hostel itself organizes a lot of activities and has many partners and contacts that organize soccer tours, pub crawls, and other activities. They really do have something for everyone. Bonus: the hostel is next to a grocery store, which is really great if you plan on cooking during your trip, or if you want to make a quick beer run.Recommended for:
