On top of Cerro De Monserrate, the church is the main attraction here. Inside are some interesting views of a nicely built church. Be prepared for a cold windy weather in this area. The architecture here is a cross between old and modern. After exploring the church take a walk around the rest of Cerro de Monserrate.

You haven't seen Bogota until you've seen it from Monserrate. The church and surrounding area are surreal, and we spent hours walking around and taking pictures. The cable car ride seemed sketchy, but we made it!

Cool colonial church on top of the cerro de Monserrate overlooking Bogota. Great views of the city. The cable car ride up is fun, and nearby there are a bunch of food vendors selling traditional regional food. It is a great place to go on a weekend for a couple of hours around lunch time

The Iglesia de Monserrate was built in 1925 and it has served as a special Church for pilgrims. In order to get to this Church, you need to take a funicular (cable car) and go up to the top (ten thousand feet high).

This is really an amusement-park ride in disguise. We waited an hour to take the cable car up, and there was another line for the train back down. Both were crammed full of Colombianos enjoying a day's excursion. The views are nice, but the church is not all that interesting. If you decide to go, pay extra for the weekday fare and avoid the crowds.
