Il Mozzicone

Borgo Pio, 193, Roma, Italia
1 review

A jump in the past in this cheap and family restaurant: The two owners are the waiters and their wives cook... just as once! Outdoor seating during springtime/summer. Favorite dish: "carbonara" (typical Roma pasta with bacon and eggs).

Really spectacular at night...A bit of a tourist trap during the day though, particularly with hawkers and scalpers encouraging you to buy prada and gucci ripoffs, but the view is incredible. We went for an evening walk along the ponte and saw the Castel SantAngelo and the sculptures along the bridge lit up: stunning!

    Makasar

    0.15 mi from Il Mozzicone
    2 reviews

It's difficult to categorize Makasar, except to simply say it's an awesome tea house, book shop and aperitivo joint. Yes, all three. The aperitivo comes with wine or a well-made cocktail, and runs around 7 euros. Very affordable given the casual elegance of the place. The service is incredibly friendly and prompt. The tea room/bookstore/bar additionally provides free wireless Internet. ...

    Via della Conciliazione

    0.13 mi from Il Mozzicone
    1 review

The history of Via della Conciliazione is certainly interesting. Built by Benito Mussolini in the mid-1930s, it serves as one of Rome's few large throghfares, able to bring in large masses of people (read: tourists) straight to Piazza San Pietro. The original architect of the Piazza, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, intended that visitors get an eyeful as they left their crowded ...

    Piazza Navona

    0.62 mi from Il Mozzicone
    190 reviews

Piazza Navona is one of those lively Roman Squares near the Roman Pantheon. Berninis Baroque Masterpiece, the Four Rivers is in the center of the Piazza. While in the square, don't buy any shirts or sweaters from the vendors. I bought quite a few and they all came apart in a cold water washing. So buyer, beware!

A must-see in the Vatican City! Go very early in the morning as the line gets really long. On Sundays, the Pope waves to the crowd. You'll definitely feel the spirituality here, whether or not you're religious. It's such a beautiful piece of work! NOTE: No pictures are allowed inside.

Great place to start a walking tour of Rome. Start here after walking through Villa Borghese, Via del Corso past the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and then Campo di Fiori. Read up on the history of the 3 roads stemming from this fantastic piazza. Avoid the tourist trap restaurants and find something on a side street.

I like this fountain more than Trevi. Not as large but it is much less crowded and more approachable. Gorgeous in every detail and not so crowded that you can't take an extra moment to really enjoy it.
