Shame on me for being Mauritian and not visiting this remarkable place sooner. The 90 minute tour from Pointe Jerome was great: our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The island is a conservation site for endemic plants and animals, some of them endangered or very rare. You’ll leave with fond memories of face to face encounters with giant land tortoises, bats and lizards. Profits from the gift shop are reinvested in restoration and preservation of the reserve, so don’t hesitate to pick up a souvenir on your way out.
