Over an hour from the suburbs of Chicago, Starved Rock is a great place to walk the trails and gullies cut into the earth by water which run to the Illinois River.

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    29 reviews
Very Good! - 83% of guests recommend

Spent a few days in this luxury hotel since we attended a major event held here. What else can I say but the rooms are spacious with enough luxury, pricey of course but we were given a slight discount as delegates. Right at the centre of the city with all the shops around. Very accessible and ideal place to stay.

“Pretty Nice, I liked it!” I had hanged about at this point on a business trip, since it was close up to where I desired to be and also for the free breakfast. Fine-looking and unsoiled facility. Given 5 because the breakfast very good and the staff was great.

Excellent! - 90% of guests recommend

I don't know about you, but I can't afford to eat every meal in a restaurant when I'm traveling. I like the Residence Inn because every room has a cute, clean, and up-to-date kitchenette for those nights when you just want to throw together a quick dinner before heading out. I also like the decor: red furniture, stainless steel appliances, ...

My home for the last 4 days. As you go in, you'll notice the modern decor of the lobby (they even have a ping pong table). Check in was breeze and within minutes I was in my room on the Madonna Floor (10th floor). The room was clean and I had 2 Queen size bed. Even though I asked for ...

Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown

Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown

    Hotel Class:
    3.5
    6 reviews
Excellent! - 89% of guests recommend

The Homewood Suites is a high-value hotel in the two to three star range. As the name says, all the rooms are suites, which is great for families on a budget. You almost don’t need the kitchen, though, because of the free hot breakfast served all week and the evening “manager’s reception” Monday through Thursday with heavy hors d’oeuvres and ...

Hotel Lincoln, a Joie de Vivre Hotel

Hotel Lincoln, a Joie de Vivre Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    7 reviews

Considering its size and location, it’s surprising that Hotel Lincoln still feels like a boutique hotel. Its amenities rival that of downtown hotels, but I thought this spot felt pretty bustle-free. There’s a downstairs café, and visitors can enjoy elegant dining inside the building at Perennial Virant. In the warmer months, the J. Parker rooftop lounge offers fancy cocktails and ...

    Chicago's Essex Inn

    Chicago's Essex Inn

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    5 reviews
Good! - 76% of guests recommend

Tucked away from downtown in the South Loop ‘hood, the Essex Inn is a gem of a hotel that likely gets passed by often for hotels found closer to the Loop and River North. It’s not the newest hotel, and it isn’t the most luxurious, but it has plenty of style and bonus points. The lobby has contemporary art and ...

Simply put, I think that the Fairmont is one of the finest hotels in Chicago. First, the location is fantastic. You can wake up in the morning, and stroll on over to Millennium Park, which is located right down the block. There’s also a nice little market on the same block if you’re looking to stock up on some snacks, ...

Holiday Inn Chicago - Mart Plaza

    Hotel Class:

Very Good! - 82% of guests recommend

I was a little bit confused about how to get to this hotel from the outside since you have to walk down alongside the river quite a ways, but it's a lovely, scenic walk past the Merchandise Mart Hall of Fame and the Chicago River. I've always loved the bridges that connect the city over the river so I didn't ...

Excellent! - 93% of guests recommend

The Talbott Hotel is the kind of place your grandfather would love, as long as your grandfather is the sailboat & stock option type. I mean no disrespect--this is just the kind of conversation I overheard while waiting to talk to the front desk staff. The lobby (big leather couches, dark wood, huge fireplace) fits the type, too. It's lovely, ...

This is a really fun hotel. They have staff members called “Bedtime Butlers” who will read the kids stories at night. They are really friendly, and know how to make it fun for them. There was also an ice cream man that comes up to bring the dessert and kid sized robes. The pool is huge, its probably 50' long ...

Hotel Indigo Chicago Downtown Gold Coast

Hotel Indigo Chicago Downtown Gold Coast

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    6 reviews
Good! - 79% of guests recommend

Upon entering, the first thing that I noticed about this hotel was just how much it resembled a hotel from Miami. The medley of whites, blues, and greens screams south Florida—which could be a good thing. Chicago in the winter is noticeably bereft of vivid colors. The second thing I noticed is the smell, which is a very pleasant mixture ...

SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown / River North

Excellent! - 86% of guests recommend

I really loved the fresh feel of this hotel, particularly the bright turquoise, green and magenta furniture and decor throughout the lobby and the rooms. It kept it feeling hip and modern, especially in comparison to the more classic feel of the adjoining Residence Inn. A floor-to-ceiling, open-backed desk separated the small living space from the bedroom area and bathroom, ...

I was really surprised to find out that this hotel was once DePaul University student housing. Chicago South Loop Hotel

Good! - 76% of guests recommend

Walking into the sunny and spacious lobby of the South Loop Hotel, I was greeted by two handsome bellmen dressed in dapper suits and ties. They were extremely attentive and friendly. Unlike many of the historic hotels in the city, the South Loop Hotel was built only four years ago and the modern, upscale atmosphere definitely reflects that. The beds ...

If you're looking to stay in the Midway area, this is the place to do it. I was a bit apprehensive upon seeing a few semis in the parking lot, thinking it might be more of a truck stop than a nice motel, but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the capacious and nicely decorated double room. The Westin O'Hare

    The Westin O'Hare

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    2 reviews

Located near O'Hare, this Westin is on the upper end of the scale when it comes to airport hotels. Expect large, smartly decorated rooms. The hotel is near public transportation to downtown (maybe 30-45 minutes); nothing that you'd want to see on a typical tourist's day in Chicago is walkable from here.
