Been to many comedy clubs including several other Improvs, and this is the Cadillac of comedy clubs. While I appreciate their anti-heckling policy, I vehemently dislike their anti-photo policy! Seating is expansive, yet the tables are still tiny. Dinner menu surprisingly good, service is okay. Drinks are expensive, you'll do well to order a food item and a soda or water to fulfill your two-item-minimum quota. When you tote up parking, the tickets, your drinks and/or food, it's a fairly pricey evening. Sign up on their email list and you'll sometimes get 2-for-1s or near-freebies. Get there early for good seats, but beware the stagefront tables! We learned our lesson with Brad Sherwood. Quality of acts varies wildly, the wall posters are from the Improv's heyday in the '80s and few (if any) of those acts have ever performed in this Improv. Sometimes the acts will mingle in the lobby after a show, even if they're not selling a CD or DVD. Restrooms are tucked away on the second level, dare I ask if they're ADA compliant?

Came here for the first time after living in San Jose for 25+ years. If you come here please leave the kids at home, since the comedy you hear here will be very adult-themed. Else it's an okay location that has shown its wear and tear over the years. Bathrooms are upstairs, fyi.

If you didn't know, I always need a good laugh. Doesn't matter if it's me cracking a joke or someone else throwing out good comebacks at me, I like laughing which leads to happiness! HAHA!
I never knew SJ had a comedy club until a few years ago. Since then, I enjoy coming back here every once in awhile for great stand up comedians visiting SJ.
I've seen Bobby Lee, Anjelah Johnson (look for her short skits on Asian Nail Salons on YouTube), etc. I've also been here for the Slanted Comedy Tour by Loudmouth Comedy. These guys were kind enough to offer free guestlist entries for people who want to check out newcomers. Check back once in awhile on the Improv website or follow them on Facebook, because they offer free guestlist entry for certain shows.
If you get lucky to sit upfront, don't be foolish to yell something back to the comedians. They will put you on blast in front of everyone. Trust me, I experienced this firsthand. Naw, just kidding! Seriously, I did watch one of the comedians make a joke out of a woman sitting in the crowd and yelling back at him. Gogobots, hilarious entertainment!
Want great seating? Get here early, because it's tough to find the best seat on the house. Usually, someone next to you might be rude to take up most of the table area with their food or what not. If you get here late, you'll be upstairs at the balcony area standing the rest of the time.
Food is something to skip on. It's not the best. The prices are expensive. Ordering for a plate of Improv nachos and chicken tenders, TOO MUCH to spend. I advise to eat dinner beforehand since the show lasts for at least 3 hours of your time. Also, if you plan to order for water...they only provide it if you order with a 2 item minimum. So keep that in mind in case you're feeling a little parched.
After a fun evening of good laughs and great times with the company you have, I'm sure you'll come back again. Oh, before you head out the door, grab the free tickets they give out to the guests. Free shows for the next headliners. You don't want to miss it!

This is one of the nicest comedy clubs I've ever been to. I've seen a lot of great comedians here - Bobby Lee, Frank Caliendo, Carlos Mencia, Jay Mohr, Mark Curry - and some lesser known comedians who opened for the headliners. I've found that a lot of the times, the bits from the opening comedians have been a lot funnier than the headliner's. Expect to have sore abs the next morning from laughing so much here the night before.

It's the Improv, so your general experience is going to be similar if not the same to how your Improv experience would be anywhere else. They get some good acts here every now and then. The food and drinks are good but not memorable.
