Awesome place to visit in Delhi with friends or family. This is where families of Delhi gather on weekends to spend time together and have fun. During day, kids play cricket in the sprawling lush lawns and grounds of India Gate. India Gate also happens to be one of the most iconic structures in Delhi. Edwin Lutyen's was the architect who designed India Gate, a war memorial to commemorate British Indian Soldiers who died fighting in World War I and Anglo-Afghan War.
Go here in evening to spend some rejuvenating hours, gorge on Delhi's street food and to have ice creams in late nights.

This is somewhat like the Washington Monument in DC. Its better if you look at it from afar in context with the other buildings than coming up close. Really nothing to see up close but it is cool when you look at the gate from the Seat of Parliament up the hill.

This is a wonderful place to people watch, especially in the evenings when families come out to stroll and eat ice cream. Candlelit vigils for various causes are often staged here, as well.Recommended for:Family Travelers

Really a pleasant place to visit at any time of the day (before 10 pm that is, which is when the lights get turned off). There are families here at all times of the day. It a great pleasant place to just walk around.
Be careful of hawkers selling toys you don't need, but feel free to check out all the ice cream wallas around. You won't the ice cream wallas when the heat is hitting you.

If you've ever seen a Bollywood movie set in New Delhi, then you've already seen the symbol of the city - the India Gate! It's actually a memorial for the 90,000 Indian soldiers who died during WWI. Like the Arc de Triumph in Paris, a quick visit - or even a tuk-tuk around the perimeter will suffice but still it's an iconic way to begin a trip through India.
