Awesome place for Happy Hour and delicious food. Great atmosphere and awesome mixed drinks. Especially delicious is the roti and chicken satay.
Excellent spot to meet the new Bay Area Gogobot Ambassadors!!!Recommended for:

Murtabak - I love you! Never heard of a murtabak until I tried one here. And I had to order a round 2! This place stuffs a thin rotti with minced beef and curry. It's like an empanada.
This restaurant opened a few months go and features Indo fusion cuisine. Happy hour is from 5-8pm.

INDO is located at the old Straits Restaurant off El Camino. There's a good number of spaces for parking, but if it fills up, there's free street parking! The dim interior feels swanky. I'd recommend sitting out on the patio for fresh air (it's covered for rain and they have lots of heat lamps for the evening! ).
This spot is great for a casual date or for getting some friends together!
They have one of the latest happy hours I've seen in South Bay! 5-8pm every week day with $5 apps and cocktails + $3 Blue Moon :) My favorite items on the happy hour are the chicken satay, tuna tartare, tofu goreng (delicious sauce!), murtabak, and roti. OK, I lied, I like everything!!!! The garlic frites aren't Indonesian, but they're still deliciously crispy and garlic-y!
They're so great to work with as well for big parties. I had called just a couple of days before the Gogobot mixer to increase the number of seats. They were able to do so even for a Friday night during happy hour! Our server Johnny was also really awesome in splitting bills for individuals and accomodating my endless orders of rounds of happy hour apps :)Recommended for:

5 stars! I never honestly would have came to this part of El Camino.
Usually it's all about downtown PA on University Ave.
We came here for HH and were happily surprised. I ate so much delicious bites that my stomach hurt and I was still stuffed the next morning. Food overload!
I'd highly recommend the Martabak, Roti, and Passionfruit Caipirinha!
Defintely coming back again!Recommended for:

For many years, this was the first Straits Cafe. About a year ago, some of the Straits staff bought the restaurant and re-opened it as Indo. The Indonesian/Asian Fusion menu, interior and staff pretty much remained the same, just more refreshed. The happy hour is awesome, and I would come here regularly just for that. It happens daily from 5-8pm and they offer a great selection of $5 delicious drinks and appetizers. Highly recommended are:
*Pear & Ginger Mule
and off their Happy Hour menu, their garlic noodles ($7).
The service is wonderful as well, so it makes for a great spot to unwind after a work day. The outdoor patio is lovely, and much more bright and cheerful than their moody interior bar and dining room. It would be great if they put a few more lounge chairs out there designated for HH. I would be there regularly!Recommended for:

That's right, this place is absolutely perfect for enjoying HH from 5pm-8pm.
I've been here for dinner and HH. Both times was a different experienced. Inconsistent service and the food somehow wasn't tasty the second time around.
My group of girlfriends and I ordered basically everything from the HH menu and some dinner menu. Only two entrees that stood out the most was the seafood green curry and the chicken satay.
I can see why this place is so popular for HH, its $5 for drinks and appetizer and $3 for draft. I do suggest coming here for HH but not so much for dinner. Enjoy and have a drink for me. Cheers!

This restaurant is an obvious winner for after-office happy hours. The drinks are cheap ($5 cocktails!) and delicious, and the snacks are varied and well done. I especially appreciate that there are a number of vegetarian options. The back porch is a huge space, perfect for a gathering of friends or a romantic evening with your SO. Highly recommended!Recommended for:

Oh, Lordy Lordy, this place is fantastic! From the elegant indoor dining room to the romantic outdoor patio with gorgeous heat lamps, INDO Restaurant & Lounge is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the taste buds.
The food here is amazing. Everything we tried was delicious, but my favorites by far were the Roti Prata and the Samosa. They also offer the most tender fried calamari I've ever had.
The signature drinks are pretty good, and they're only $5 each during happy hour (runs 'til 8pm -- pretty late!). House wines are available for $5 during happy hour too.
Cannot wait to go back!Recommended for:

Had a great time here for a South Bay Gogobot event last night. Their happy hour is from 5-8pm, with appetizers and select drinks for only $5 each. I highly recommend their Whiskey Sour.Recommended for:

This place is so awesome! I LOVE their everything $5 happy hour! Its such a good deal. The food is SO delicious, especially the roti prata and murtabak (fried triangle puffs with beef inside). The decor is so cute too! We sat outside in the outdoor tent and there was a quaint fountain. Excellent place to hit up and unwind after work :)

Indo Restaurant is an Indonesian restaurant just off El Camino in Palo Alto.
Apparently, this used to be a Straights location, the Singaporean/Indonesian restaurant that started in SF, opened in SJ in Santana Row, and in my opinion has gone down hill more recently in quality.
Bryan, the owner here, used to be at Straights. So did his Chef de Cuisine, who was at Straights for 12 years. So maybe this explains things.
The restaurant is quite large, shaped in a long rectangle with a door entry near El Camino, and the main one in the rear by their parking lot, off the side street. From the rear entry, you have a tastefully but simple decorated bar and lounge area, with stools and tables for drinking, or enjoying appetizers or even a full meal. The middle section is the main dining room, with fancy vertical flame fireplace. The third section is an enclosed patio styled area. There are handsome pedestals of Buddha busts and figurines along the walls, nicely done with gentle spot lighting.
I came here with, and by the recommendation of, one of my fave and longest Yelp friends, Julie K, now a good friend outside Yelp. We had several appetizers and great drinks during happy hour, and then as we talked past that time, we stayed and had a few more dishes. They were all great, tasty and well done. (See pics).
The service here is excellent, as we were always being checked on by our beautiful and attentive server, Mel, who is Indonesian herself. Terima Kasih! Actually, the entire staff, wait people and bartenders, are all young, attentive, and great looking. Bryan the owner was working the floor as well, making sure everything was working well and guests were being attended to. And his parents came down for a bite that night, too, so it was great to see the family and a well run restaurant.Recommended for:
