No cockroaches but saw a couple ants. it's dingy and old. Was cheap but not worth the price. Interesting neighbors. Decent location.

I attended a Convention here last week and had a nice time with professional friends, various presentations and exhibits, and the roomy, well-lit, and eco-friendly facilities. The OCC did a good job of accommodating our needs and welcoming us to the Rose City. It's also a big plus that the facility is close to Downtown and TriMet accessible. That led ...

This is where you will find the Blaze playing a mighty fine basketball game at Modacenter stadium. It is only minutes away from downtown which can be easy access with local transportation such as the light rails, buses, or even dare to walk. Here you'll find half of the people watching a live game and having a good time. Make ...

A fascinating urban gardens right in Old Town. Interesting to compare this with the Japanese Gardens as well. The recorded tour that comes with your admission is well worth using when you explore the gardens. There's also a lovely tea house in the gardens.

Last five hours in Portland after a busy work weekend. Had to revisit Pearl district and I really love the area. Filled with caf├ęs, shops, brick and cobblestone. So much charm to stroll through and the Portland wet cold somehow makes it all the more charming.

    Classical Chinese Garden

0.63 mi from Inn at the Convention Center
    9 reviews

In downtown's Old Town and Chinatown historic district, this petite garden is a wonderful surprise. You might think from the semi-steep price of admission and the down-and-out streets nearby that this garden is isn't worth making time for. Wrong. Landscape architects from China came over expressly to build this garden from the ground up. It's even diverting for kids, with ...

A red colored bridge along the Willamette River. It is said to be the longest rall-type (rolling lift mechanism when opened) bascule bridge in the world. Built in 1913, it holds a lot of history and it's great that money was put in for renovation and restoration over the years to keep this bridge functional today. Portland's streetcar system passes ...

Wild! A mall with an ice rink right in the center of the mall! I've never seen anything like it! As you can see in my postcard it's a three story mall with a food court and movie theater on top and the ice rink on the bottom right in the center. Wow!

    Rose Garden Arena

0.34 mi from Inn at the Convention Center
    11 reviews

Portland's giant arena is beautiful, well-designed, and makes every effort to maximize audience experience no matter what seats you can afford. Parking is convenient and cheap (relative to many California arenas, that is), and though the food is expensive, at least it's good. This is one of my favorite indoor places on the West Coast to see a major act.

In Portland it's easy to take a bridge walk and I've taken 4 over my several trips to the Rose City. Here are my stories....(Cue the Law and Order Clang). The Burnside Bridge is a double-leaf "Strauss style" bascule bridge that spans the Willamette River and was opened in 1926. Including approaches, the Burnside has a total length of 2,308 ...

An extremely popular drag show is certainly worth a visit for those not easily offended. Popular with bachelorette and birthday parties, the show is regularly sold out and a raucous affair. Male strippers perform at midnight on the weekends, so if you are into that sort of thing, make sure to get to the door early to ensure seating.
