In the midst of the massive carbohydrate frenzy of Roman eating, sometimes you just want a big salad. Insalata Ricca has, oh, fifty choices with different veggies and toppings, and most are around the €10 mark. Solving the bargain-hunting omnivore's dilemma.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in the world. Just a few weeks ago I had a ten hour layover in Rome, on my way to Tel Aviv for the wedding. I was exhausted and it was raining outside, but I knew that I had to get to Insalata Rica, if only for a short meal. And that's exactly what I did. A short train ride and taxi ride later I was at my favorite place in the world. A place with bright checkered table cloths, a place with the best ciabatta bread in the world. A place with the best selection of salads I have ever seen. It's because of this place that I have started to create some of my salad creations that might blow your mind! The workers are nice and do not speak too much English, but the menu has an English section so even if they can't speak to you, they'll still smile and you can just point to what you want. Oh, and the best part: you can modify anything to your liking. I suggest the chicken salad ( I add corn and heart of palm!) Yum. Just thinking about it now makes me want to hop back on a plane.
If you are not a salad person, try some Gnocchi! Amazing. Everything here is good and that is the bottom line. Oh, and you can get a liter of vino for about 5 bucks...
This is one of Rome's hidden treasures and I was only lucky enough to find it because I was living in Rome and accidentally stumbled upon it. I find that this is how you find those rare treasures in life and I am so happy to share this special place with you!

My favorite lunch place in all of Rome when I'm in the mood for a salad. They have a menu that will blow your mind with over 30 different salads. They're enough to fill you up for lunch and if you cannot find a salad you like on this menu, you just don't like salads! My favorite is the one with the pears and cheese, mixed greens, add a little basalmic vinegar and you're in heaven! They've got outdoor seating and are just near Campo dei Fiori.
