Our tour group had Lunch at this Intercontinental Hotel. It's a pretty and well-appointed Hotel within an unremarkable urban mass called Athens. The Lunch was a delicious buffet and a welcome mid-day respite.

It's main attraction of Athens. You can't visit the capital without going up the acropolis and visiting the Parthenon. It's best if a guide will be with you to understand the rich history.

Absolutely breathtaking. Climbing the steps to the acropolis feels like stepping through history. It is a bit of a hike, so choose good weather and sturdy shoes but the view of Athens from the top is unparalleled.

If you visit the Acropolis, you should really consider visiting this museum as well. I don't think I really had a sense of the rich history or what the Acropolis would have been like until I saw the museum. Great views of the Acropolis just up the hill and amazing exhibits. It really adds historical context and brings the Acropolis ...

You can see findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on its feet, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It is located near the Acropolis. You can't miss it if you are interested in being informed about Ancient Greece.

Temple dedicated to Poseidon located on Athens' Acropolis hill. I think it has already been restored. The only thing is that some original pieces have been moved to the Acropolis Museum to protect them from pollution, so the caryatid statues are actually made of plaster, not marble.

The Panathenaic Stadium or Panathinaiko was another stop on the Athen tour. We got off the bus for long enough to admire from one end that athletic stadium that hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Reconstructed from the remains of an ancient Greek stadium, the Panathenaic is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white ...

I would recommend visiting on a day when there isn't a protest, but those seem few and far between lately. If you do go, be sure to find out when the guards change their station. Between the uniforms and their march, I thought the changing of the guards in Athens was better than at Buckingham Palace.
