This hotel was sumptuously decorated and furnished – marble floors, stained glass windows, a grand staircase with ornate iron railing…these are only some of the details that make the Intercontinental exquisite. I felt like I’d just stepped onto the Titanic (minus the probable sea sickness). The hotel includes a sauna, gym, indoor pool, restaurant, and bar, as well as a variety of luxury boutiques and wine cellars. The staff was simultaneously friendly and professional. I appreciated the receptionist’s recommendation that I book a room facing the Juan Bautista Church – which offered a gorgeous view onto the old church as well as the city – as well as take a stroll on the outdoor terrace, which contained a lovely café. Even if you can’t afford this hotel, I highly recommend you take some time to pass through it. You can have a drink and pretend to be royalty for a minute.Recommended for:

The InterContinental Hotel is like walking into a wonderful, luxurious palace of a different era. From the outside it looks like one of the large business buildings around it, but on the inside it's beautifully decorated, comfortable, and full of wonderful amenities. There is a bar, two restaurants (one of which serves Mediterranean food), and a pool. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly and always working to make your stay enjoyable.Recommended for:

I had the pleasure of meeting Ruben Casey. He’d been working at the hotel since it first opened 20 years ago. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the building, its history and the artwork displayed all around the hotel. Some of the rooms were more modern than others. I preferred the traditional rooms, which were fitted with carpet. I felt like I’d walked back in time to a wealthier, more economically-stable Buenos Aires. The pool was beautiful and made me feel very relaxed. The little cafe located to the right of the entrance hallway was another historic gem - it still had a functioning coffee machine, which looked like copper, from the early 20th century. The top floor was reserved exclusively for guests who had rooms on the top floor. They had their own breakfast room to dine in too. I found this little touch of exclusivity charming.Recommended for:
