I'm sure that in its heyday this was one of the nicest hotels in Dallas, but it seems to have been in a holding pattern since that time. Though it's obviously a good hotel with much to offer, I was left with the feeling that it could use a serious upgrade. The decorations, the carpets, the wallpaper, the door handles...everything seemed to be the original that was installed when the building was first designed. If it'd been made a hundred years ago the authenticity would've been charming. But this just felt outdated.
Having said all of that, I would definitely recommend this hotel as an enjoying place to stay. It's very large and classy, the staff was plentiful and friendly, and it was all very well managed. It would be the perfect place for a large meeting or reception, and you could feel comfortable treating your family along.

I've actually been to the Intercon a few times and it's one of my favorite spots in town. The first time was for a wedding reception, the second time was for their Sunday brunch. For the Intercon to be an "older" hotel, they've gone out of their way to be sure that they've balanced classic opulence with modern appeal. The bar/lounge area is welcoming and luxuriously appointed. Q de Cheval, the property's flagship dining experience is where brunch is held and well worth the three dollar signs you'll see on dining review sites. Needless to say the rooms are immaculately-kept and the staff is beyond courteous. On my most recent visit, I noticed that there is a hair salon on the ground floor in addition to the fitness center. With an onsite Starbucks and gift shop complete with apparel, everything you need is under one roof.

The Intercontinental has been a staple in the North Dallas hotel scene since it opened in the 80s targeting tennis and racquetball players. When you walk in, you escape into a Texas-sized lobby with modern, masculine tones which fit their targeted client which appears to be business and conference based. The well-equipped fitness center has locker rooms with treatment rooms and showers which you don’t find in hotels of its time unless, of course, they were for professional athletes and after you’re done in the gym, head to the large outdoor pool and relax, you’re in Dallas, you should soak up some rays. The very attentive staff is there to help you and there’s complimentary car service to anywhere within a three mile radius which is perfect because many people don’t know this, but the town of Addison has more restaurants and entertainment per capita than any other city in the United States and when you’re at Intercontinental, all of this is within a two mile radius.
