I'm telling you...
The attitude of the staff makes a world of difference.
The area the hotel is at is rather upscale all things considered it is still nice to know that the staff knows how to take care of their clients. They are gracious, attentive, and insightful with their suggestions and knowledge of the city. Though the room wasnt bad, it wasnt great. More importantly the anthropological museum and Chapultepec Park were close by. One thing I did like a lot was the chance to try some local insects as seen in Andrew Zimmerman from Bizarre Foods. I always wanted to do that!

It’s hard to find many significant differences between the large four-star hotels in the Polanco neighborhood. Still, the 42-floor InterContinental Presidente Mexico City offers all the amenities business travelers are likely to need, such as a well-stocked business center, six restaurants (including a buffet and an English tea shop), a newly renovated full gym, a spa, a travel agency, shops and paid laundry, dry-cleaning and even baby-sitting services. Rooms offer up standard chain-hotel fare, with air conditioning, bathtubs, coffee makers, hair dryers and irons. WiFi costs extra, but is available throughout the hotel, and guests get discounted parking. For a quieter stay, pick a room on the Reforma side of the hotel, which faces the auditorium. The Polanco view is beautiful, however, and noise isn’t an issue on the higher floors. Check out the revolving art exhibit in the lobby and the gin-cocktail menu at the lobby bar, which serves creative drinks using fresh ingredients, such as lychee, strawberries and mint.

It would be easy for these huge towers to feel like just another chain hotel, a trap that has snared Mexico City's Sheraton Maria Isabel. The InterContinental avoids giving off that feeling, despite having 600-plus rooms. It's not the comfort of the rooms themselves -- they're nothing special, aside from the spectacular views. It's the rest of the 42-floor tower that impresses. The hotel has six restaurants, including an English tea room that's unusual for Mexico. The hotel bar, although really, really expensive, has some of the most inventive cocktails I've seen in the country. And attractive artwork is scattered inside and outside the lobby, including a Botero sculpture. The location -- on the edge of the tony Polanco district and steps from the Auditorio Nacional and Bosque de Chapultepec -- is perfect. It's easier to overlook a hotel's flaws when so much is right.
