InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco

Number One Nob Hill, 999 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
4.5

I like this Nob Hill Hotel, and I really enjoy the Top of the Mark restaurant/bar at the top of the property. Whether you are staying here or not, the bar is worth a visit for a breathtaking view of SF from one of the highest vantage points.

A gorgeous cahtedral to take photos inside and out. The place during high noon has some amazing lighting that comes through the windows and in turn creates amazing photographs.

Swank and hip, but just a little overpriced. I had three cocktails here and ended up paying $50. Overall pleasant experience though.

You can't come to SF without taking a cable car ride, especially if you have little boys. The Hyde-Powell line is nice (wonderful views of Alcatraz and Lombard Street) but the long queue can be irritating. A Muddy Toddler tip: Hop on the California Line at Market Street. There usually aren't any queues here. $6 one way for adult. Toddlers ...

I've walked past this section of Stockton Street many times before and really didn't pay the Crescent Hotel any mind, let alone know that there was a cool lounge upstairs. But here I was last night for the Gogobot Launch Party. The Soirée was actually in the back room, which was festively decked out for the event. And since Gogobot ...

The Union Square location for Williams-Sonoma is one of the best in the country. Spanning three levels, this culinary store has everything for the professional and non-professional chef alike. Unlike most Williams-Sonomas, they also have cooking classes throughout the week. I once met Tyler Florence here, so it's a great place for celebrity sightings as well!

I really liked this bar. Stopped in here to get out of the cold walking down towards union square from a fancy dinner on Nob Hill. The bar is cozy, lively and buzzing. Pretty cool music and an eclectic crowd. Was not expecting to find this kind of bar so close to Nob Hill. Glad I did.

Cool bar in the Rex Hotel with a beautiful interior much like a library. Wines start at $7 and are heavy pours (not bad for a hotel bar). Cocktails are more pricey. Buffalo Trace or Bulleit for $8 (a measuring stick for all you whiskey lovers).

Never a dull night for me at this place, especially when it's a Friday. They play 80s in one room, and hip hop in the smaller one. If it were up to me, I'd switch it around and have hip hop in the bigger room. I try to snag a spot near the fan because it can get a bit ...

The relaxed vibe would have been cool, but not on this occasion for me. I ordered two Gin and Tonics, and announced that i was in a hurry, but it turns out that I was talking to the bar-back, not the bartender, who was standing next to him chatting it up with other clients. I guess the bar-back and the ...

I've walked by the San Francisco Fountain for years. I've even sat for hours on the steps next to it. But it wasn't until recently that I discovered what it was (thanks to a Gogobot trip recommendation). The San Francisco Fountain features a number of Bay Area monuments carved into its side. From the Palace of Fine Arts to a ...

By no means cheap, but only place I've found stocking British (well, Scottish) pop like Irn Bru and Lucozade. Buy a can at Chrismas and sip it like a fine wine.

A neighborhood near the tourist's 'ground zero' at Union Square, Chinatown is a place where locals don't tend to go. Not as egregious a crime against authenticity and good taste as Fisherman's Wharf, SF's Chinatown is still full of hokey tourist crap and mediocre Chinese eateries (there are good ones there too, of course, but good luck finding them at ...
