Efficient, professional, and convenient - this lakeside hotel is connected to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and understandably, screams BUSINESS! The hotel is large and impressive - lots of glass & sunlight, with a sleek lobby area and down-to-business staff. I quite like the efficiency of the place (I'm in hospitality myself, so people doing things well and with purpose is always a welcome sight!), and think that this hotel is best suited for people attending conferences or on business.
All of the major Toronto business & entertainment areas are close by, and many of them are accessible via the underground PATH network - very useful if you happen to be visiting in the winter months! The hotel itself has a number of classy restaurants, a large fitness centre and pool area, and a business centre. All in all, a very convenient and business oriented hotel, but a little lacking on the character side.

Attached to the Metro Convention Centre, this hotel is big, bold and business-focused. No wonder it was chosen as the host site for the disastrous G20 meetings held in Toronto two years ago. The sleek, black lobby reminds me of an airport, and the people walking purposefully towards the many conference rooms add to the effect. The service staff are helpful and friendly, and you get the sense that this place runs like a very efficient machine. The hotel has full amenities - large pool, spa, fitness centre, business centre, several restaurants etc., but not a lot of warmth. The main floor restaurant, Azure, is quite beautiful, sitting under a glass atrium that throws rays of afternoon sun over well-dressed diners. Another nice bonus is that this hotel is attached to the underground PATH system - meaning that in winter you can get around the downtown core without ever having to go outside. Pretty convenient: which is how I'd describe the Intercontinental in general. Rooms are clean and spacious, decorated in standard, no-fuss beiges and browns and the CN Tower and Rogers Centre are around the corner.
