This adorable town in the Bern area is a popular tourist destination because of its charming, intimate old-Switzerland feel and its proximity to other attractions like Jungfrau and Mystery Park. Backpackers, skydivers, and skiers especially love Interlaken, though my favorite part was walking through it and looking at the buildings.Recommended for

If you're looking to explore Switzerland's natural wonders, there is no better home-base than Interlaken. Not just a fantastic springboard to some of the most beautiful towns in country (Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen among them), Interlaken itself is a modern swiss fairy tale.
Snuggled into the isthmus between two lakes (hence its name), Interlaken offers most of the amenities of a much larger swiss city (shopping, fine dining, a bit of night life) as well as all of the opportunities an adventurer could imagine for exploring the land, sea and skies of Switzerland: hike up (or take the train) Jungfrau-- a spectacular peak in the alps; take a cruise out on one of the lakes-- the water is spectacularly beautiful against the backdrop of the forests and mountains; if you're feeling very daring, you can even go on a paragliding adventure that lands you in the giant park right in the center of Interlaken.
Yes, the town is a rather popular European-tourist destination, and has grown in notoriety over the years due to its prime location and stunning beauty-- but that's all relative; the volume of tourists is, overall, pretty negligible.

Located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, at the foot of the Alps, Interlaken is a posh mountain resort. It's also a famous adventure point for paragliding. Just look up for 10 minutes and you'll see countless landings. Beware of the prices though, it's not your average destination for backpacking on a budget.

Interlaken is a classic stop on the European backpacker's circuit. Boasting a ton of outdoor action/adventure sports, as well as easy access to beautiful hikes in the Alps, you're guaranteed to meet some new friends and have a great time.

Amazing place. Everyone is really friendly and the backpackers hotel we stayed at was down-to-earth and really comfortable. You can take public transit from here to Lauterbrunnen, the location of the Trümmelbach Falls. I highly recommend going to see this. There are 10 waterfalls inside the mountain that are accessible with this tunnel and elevator system that they've created. One of the most majestic and just awesome things I have ever seen. This is also the one and only place where the glaciers of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau drain to.

Interlaken is a well-known tourist destination for train connection, so do I. When you come here you'll impress a friendly town for backpackers or all visitors, many hostels and anythings for tourists.
