Every floor in this playful hotel has a different theme to it. The Internacional Design Hotel isn’t the biggest hotel I’ve encountered in Lisbon, but it is definitely one of the most unique. You can pick a room, and a floor, to match your particular mood and needs. There’s the ‘pop’ floor, which seems to have been inspired by Andy Warhol to some extent, and then there’s the ‘Zen’ floor, for those of you who like a low-key atmosphere. You can also stay on the ‘urban’ floor, to keep with the feeling of the city, or opt for the ‘tribe’ floor, which will make you feel as if you’re out on a safari. The hotel’s restaurant is brightly lit, with large windows overlooking one of Lisbon’s most famous shopping streets (Rua Augusta). You can sample wines from the hotel wine bar if the weather is keeping you inside. Lisbon is very sunny, though, so it’s good to know that you’re only a hop, skip and away from every kind of café, bar and restaurant imaginable. The rooms aren’t massive in the Internacional Design Hotel, but with so much to see right outside the front door, I doubt you’ll be spending that much time inside your room at all.Recommended for:

Super well located in the centre of town near lots of great cafes and restaurants. Very funky design. Great staff. Comfortable rooms. Ask for a room that is not on the main street as it can be somewhat noisy.

My stay at Internacional Design Hotel was fabulous. Each floor has a different theme; zen, urban, tribe, and pop with different art installations on each level. I love how each room included a Nespresso maker. My bed was very cozy and I loved the waterfall shower as well as the great view from my balcony. The hotel staff was very friendly and would give flowers to guests each day. There was also a daily service where a treat was brought up to the room. The breakfast (included with the room) was above and beyond delicious with a variety of tapas, olives, cheese, bread, fruit, pastries, and fresh squeezed juices. The location is great, right in the city center and wifi is free. If you’re going to Lisbon, book a room here.
