One thing that I noticed right away and really liked about this place is that it has more original art than you usually see in hotels. The aesthetic did not seem to have an overall concept—more like these are a collection of things that someone in charge likes. The more time I spent there the more it bothered me that the logo is all over the hotel – some of the paintings are of the logo and the benches in the inner atrium are in the shape of the logo. The problem with that, for me, was that it felt corporate. Don’t be totally put off by the blaring TVs behind the front desk – the rooms are actually nicer than the initial communal spaces. The room wasn’t huge, but it was efficiently arranged. The whole place was very clean.Recommended for:

Feels a bit futuristic in a 1960s sense here, as they've gone back to the concept that getting everything out of a vending machine is far and away the most convenient option. Human contact? No thanks! Inefficient! That being said, the iQ still does alright in the staff department. If you do ask them for something they're perfectly willing to oblige. My room was modern, with rolling wardrobe doors and a red leather couch. Stylish, but not overly exciting, is my verdict. For opera buffs, it's perfect, as it is just across the street from the Teatro dell'Opera.

The *revolutionary* self service concept of this hotel fell a bit flat for me. The revolution is that they don't do anything for you, you do it all yourself but pay the same rates. I was initially skeptical to say the least. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't too far redeemed. The service was polite but didn't quite reach warm, and the hotel was very clean and modern, but felt a bit cold. I almost began to feel like I was in IKEA at one point, between the vending machines and pasteboard furniture. The courtyard inside is a nice touch, although again I wasn't convinced by the lack of greenery and benches in the shape of the hotel logo. The location is very convenient, but not incredibly atmospheric. All in all, you could do much worse in Rome, but you could also do much better.
