This is a great outdoor mall. The kids love the toy stores and the ferris wheel. Who wouldn't?! This mall has just about everything you could possibly want.

Irvine Spectrum Center is massive. It has a store and activity for just about anyone not to mention some delicious restaurants. Only downside is the amounts of people who come here on the weekends.

About a 20 minute drive south on the 5 freeway. Irvine Spectrum is a beautifully designed, outdoor entertainment and shopping complex that has lots to offer for all ages. The kids especially love the ferris wheel and merry-go-round and mom can spend an entire day shopping. There is a huge variety of restaurants (most rather pricey) and a massive movie theater that has an IMAX. We especially like going to the Improv on weekends for great comedy shows.Recommended for

Spectrum! If you ever lose anyone in Irvine, call them up and say "Meet me at the Spectrum." Every UCI student is guilt of using this line at least once. When you think Irvine you think Spectrum. I miss how there was a colorful obelisk that would change colors ever minute. At least, you can understand why its call spectrum based on colors. Now its just a plan white obelisk that has an "Irvine Spectrum Center" white light on it. A bit of a down grade, but hey at least I'm thankful for the parking structure. I remember that area use to be only for valet parking. Parking use to be a nightmare similar to Ontario Mills yuck!
I know some people may not like the quality of stores. I don't mind this because I don't do much shopping for woman's clothes. There are lot of little snack places and things to do there. Think of the Spectrum as a cross between mini carnival (snacks and Ferris wheel, no games) and a outlet mall (still okay prices). Having a lot of little high school/ younger kids running around can suck at times, but you can always go to Fashion Island if this bothers you. Parking is always no problem and you don't have to spend much. Besides if you are lazy you can use Valet. If you go to 24 hour fitness, its you get 2 hours of FREE parking! You can eat cheap or expensive. If you are like me just enjoy the atmosphere, read free magazines at B&N, then hit up a movie at Regal cinemas with a Costco ticket. GOOD TIMES!
The movie theater is the best feature. Not all Regal's are created the same. I was spoiled going to the one at the spectrum. There some Regal's that only hold 7 movies and can hold about a classroom size audience. Some other locations are really smell and old. The Spectrum has one of the best Regal theaters! If you say that AMC is better. Not by much. I also enjoy AMC, but even with discount tickets, save your money and the Tustin headache. Watch your movies HERE!
Meet you at the Spectrum. Watch the game at Yard House while enjoying a half yard! Then catch the summers new big blockbuster movie. End it with more fruity and frozen drinks while winning tickets at D&B.

There aren't many malls that I'd actually say I like hanging around at. I can probably count them on one hand. That being said, the Irvine Spectrum is one of them. Perhaps it's the fun college memories that make me enjoy this place so much. It could also be the ambiance. There's decent food, a lot of entertainment, a nice movie theater. Somehow, it also grows every time I go back. The only downside is that it gets insanely crowded there.

Irvine Spectrum and I have a love/hate relationship but still waters run deep. I only avoid this place because of the parking lots and structures that surround it. I can never make heads or tails of where I'm headed. If I just want to browse the mall, I'll park anywhere but say, you want to go to a movie I can never remember how to get to the structure that's by the theater and if you end up parking by Nordstroms, good luck getting on the 5 because you have to drive all the way around to get there and then you realize you should have just parked near the theater because that's the closest spot. End rant.
Once I'm parked and safely enclosed within the fountains, lights and general merriment, my worries are over and I can get lost amongst the throngs of teens that loiter around this place.
I have yet to experiences the ferris wheel or the merry go round. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm at a fair or carnival. Ice cream, funnel cake, and hot dogs at an outdoor mall? Oh wait, there's a Macys too and plenty of upscale stores where I can't yet spend my money so I guess I'm left to shop at the little carts that sell whatever they're selling - jewelry, cell phone cases, flat irons, nail care stuff, etc.
This is another pet friendly park with ample fountains and plenty of places to eat and great entertainment including the Edwards IMAX and the comedy house. I will need to get over my phobia of parking though if I want to visit more often especially since this mall has a great two story Barnes and Noble and I'm just a sucker for that store.

First outdoor mall I've been to in California when I moved down here for college. It was a truly unique experience but very enjoyable. Lots of shops, great nightlife with everyone in Orange county coming here and a fantastic variety of restaurants and shops and one very large cinema. Good place to walk around with friends on a warm summer night in the OC
