We visited here with a local tour guide who calls herself a secular Jew. She was respectful of all of us...Believers and those who are not, as she pointed out places of interest within this holy place. Cameras are permitted. It is crowded here, so there is not much opportunity for quiet contemplation.

One of eight gates to Old Jerusalem, this gate faces toward the port of Jaffa. Perhaps one of the most popular entrances to the old city the British removed a tower that stood by the entrance.

The look you gain over the Sea of Galilee when you are in Tiberias is simply unbelievable. Palm trees, the Golan Heights, the deep blue colour of the water and the fishing boats make this spot a paradise on earth, by night and day.

    Caesarea

Northwest of Hadera, Tel Aviv Israel
    4.5
    19 reviews

Very cool place for history geeks, Caesaria was built by King Herod, and is amazingly preserved. See the seaside pool, the chariot race track/gladiator pit, and of course the amphitheatre. Apparently, you can scuba dive from here as well to see the original port and docks. Amazing sights!

Via Dolorosa runs through a main stretch of the old city, so it is easy to stumble onto one of the stations of the cross. The weekly procession is so cool to see- and it's hard not to get swept up in the excitement.
