    Hotel Mina

    Hotel Mina

    Class:
    3 reviews
Very Good! - 81% of guests recommend

Very distinctive! Hotel Mina is one of the hundreds of hotels that populate the area and yet they manage to distinguish themselves with a string of pluses they boast. First of all, the view from their top floor restaurant, that overlooks the Golden Horn, Marmara and the Blue Mosque is amazing. The service does not falter, either. It is one ...

    Side Hotel and Pension

The Side in Istanbul was in a great location! It was only a block away from the Blue Mosque. When I checked into the hotel late at night, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see any sites. But, the Side is located in a great spot which is really close to many restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. It ...

On the up side, this hotel is clean, well-kept, with friendly, helpful staff, and it’s in a convenient location for most of your sightseeing needs in the Old City. The room reservation comes with breakfast in a room off of the lobby, and it has WiFi in all of the rooms. Next door they have a pub-style restaurant, and there ...

    Basileus Hotel

Excellent! - 94% of guests recommend

Sutlanahmet is a great place to stay when visiting Istanbul, with Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar all within 5/10 minutes of each other. However, all the people and traffic can start to feel a bit oppressive after a while so it’s nice to escape to a hotel like this, which is set away from all ...

    Renaissance Polat Istanbul Hotel

    Class:
    4 reviews
Good! - 77% of guests recommend

I stayed here in March, in the middle of winter when it snowed for almost my entire stay. The hotel is only about a 10 minute ride from the airport, but a good 40 minutes away from any of the attractions in Istanbul. Because of it's location, it most attracts business people that have rental cars or can expense cab ...

    Istanbul Marriott Hotel Asia

    Class:

Very Good! - 81% of guests recommend

The location of this hotel isn't great for tourists as it’s not really near much of note. However, if you have business or need to stay on the Asian side, it's one of the few luxury hotels around. I would certainly not recommend trying to get from the European side every day in the Istanbul traffic. It's also a great ...

    Mirilayon Hotel

Mirilayon Hotel is a high standard city hotel with many amenities that could not be deduced from its exterior. It is in Laleli, close to Sultanahmet and the expo centres around Ataturk airport – and the airport itself. The hotel rises in a quiet corner of the district, removed from the main road, hence the noise and traffic. Its rooms ...

A slightly dated hotel, this is nevertheless and fairly solid mid-range place to stay with the added plus of breakfast on the roof terrace with great views of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. As mentioned, the décor feels a bit old-fashioned but it’s generally clean and well-kept throughout. The hotel is in a quiet spot overlooking a small square ...

    Adahan Istanbul

    2 reviews

I love the décor of Adahan Istanbul! The hotel is built in an old apartment block and, as is traditional, there are wonderful marble staircases and beautiful features everywhere. What I love is that they’ve kept the original features but they haven’t restored them to look like new, instead they’ve kind of restored the building around these features. It’s modern ...

Ottoman Palace rises right at the very heart of Istanbul – the hotel overlooks Taksim square. Occupying such a great spot, the hotel does justice to its location. It is lavishly decorated around the theme that gives the hotel its very name. The lobby/reception area is quite palatial with classical furniture, portraits of Ottoman sultans and coat of arms. Seeing the gilded door from the outside I couldn’t quite believe this was a hostel. Hotel Insider Guide
The legendary city of Istanbul connects Asia and Europe along the strategic Bosphorous Strait and has been the site of overlapping cultures and religions for thousands of years. Today, Istanbul is the largest city in modern Turkey and remains a true melting pot, serving as a key transportation hub and trading port between continents. It has also become increasingly well-known as one of the hippest cities in the world. Beyond Istanbul's abundance of historic buildings (including the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque in Sultanahmet Square, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar) and deeply rooted cultural traditions, this stylish city is home to an ever-growing list of sophisticated bars, clubs, restaurants, art galleries, fashion houses and retailers. Savvy boutique and larger chain hotels playing up traditional Ottoman themes or contemporary designs are riding this wave of cool, setting up in concentrated numbers in central and historic neighborhoods across the city.

Luxury Hotels in Istanbul
In a city designed to house centuries of sultans, one doesn't have to look far to find a list of luxury hotels offering an impressive array of design features and personalized services. The five-star Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul, located on the European side of the Bosphorus, plays host to today's international royalty, heads of state, and elite travelers, evoking the opulence of its past life as an Ottoman Imperial Palace with dramatic decor, elegant antiques, and suites with sweeping views. The grand 19th century Pera Palace Hotel overlooking the Golden Horn is another timeless five-star option that has attracted a roster of celebrity guests over the years, including Ernest Hemingway, Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock. The Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet and Four Seasons Istanbul at the Bosphorous serve up all of the extravagant design and over-the-top services the luxury hotel brand is known for. Other international luxury hotel chains in Istanbul, such as the Marmara, Conrad and Swissotel, receive similar accolades. Boutique properties such as the family-owned Sirkeci Mansion Hotel (modeled after old Ottoman konaks, similar to a bed & breakfast), offer a uniquely modern, local take on deluxe accommodation.

Budget Hotels in Istanbul
Whether you're looking for a unique-yet-affordable boutique hotel or a B&B, a recognizable hotel chain or a cheap dorm room, Istanbul will meet your needs. However, many excellent budget-friendly hotels in Istanbul do come in locally-owned packages, adding to their charm. Such is the Empress Zoe, a central boutique hotel built of old Turkish style townhouses turned into 25 individually decorated rooms and suites, all centered around a private archaeological garden bordering the ruins of an ancient Turkish bath house. This is a true oasis at a reasonable price (which means it can book up early!). The Meddusa Hotel, also in the Old City Center just down the road from the Hagia Sophia and other important Sultanahmet sights, offers small yet comfortable guestrooms along with full Turkish breakfasts and a lovely rooftop terrace with outstanding views, all for a great nightly rate. The Albatros Premier Hotel is similarly attractive, with excellent service and clean, well-kept guestrooms and a large terrace restaurant with a view of the Marmara sea. If a hostel is more your speed, give the Big Apple Hotel and Hostel or the Orient Hostel International a try.

Where to stay in Istanbul
As one of the world's largest and most historic cities, Istanbul is comprised of numerous districts with sights of interest found throughout. The Old City center, Sultanahmet, is one of the most notable and is where most of the most famous historical sights of Istanbul are located, including the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, a d the Topkapı Palace. The Galata, just to the north, is home to much of the city's nightlife, including neighborhoods Beyohlu, Istiklal Street and Taksim Square. New City beyond is a main business district with many modern shopping centers. In the Bosphorus District along the European bank of the Strait, one will find a variety of palaces, parks, waterfront mansions and bohemian neighborhoods making the most of their views toward the Asian Side. Moving west, the Golden Horn's estuary divides European Istanbul and maintains an Ottoman ambiance, while off to the east (across the Bosphorus Straight), the Asian Side houses some lovely neighborhoods, particularly at the Marmara and Bosphorus coasts. ... read more
