I've never actually been here but my wife and I used to order food from Picante online using Yemek Sepeti, Istanbul's main online delivery service. It was definitely the most serviceable Mexican food in the city.

    Green Corner Cafe Restaurant

For a cafe right in the heart of tourist town this place is surprisingly relaxed and relatively cheap. It's literally in the shadow of Hagia Sophia and across the road from the exit to the Basilica Cistern. The gozleme (filled flat breads) are very good and I can also vouch for the Turkish coffee.

Thanks to Ally Wu's suggestion, I decided, at the last minute, to sign up for a Turkish cooking class. I gave them a call and they were able to fit me in that night. We cooked five fantastic dishes including dolmas, a fantastic eggplant dish, lentil soup, cookies, and one more thing I can't recall just now. We got demos ...

    Pudding Shop

This place is bustling, friendly, and full of tourists. It's got great cheap food, and air conditioning. It's cafeteria-style, but while I was waiting in line enthusiastic eaters recommended their dishes, "Try the stuff zucchini. It's yummy." and stuff like that. We even met a friend fro SF in the line. I recalled a friend of mine raving about Turkish ...

It is a world famous restaurant right in the spice market. It is famous because it is an institution that a lot of famous people have dined here. I love the decor of lovely turquoise-tiles. The staffs are all very proper and old school. I went in there with friends to get a quick bite to eat for lunch, but ...

This is where you go to feel like more of a local. Why? Because everyone is Turkish! The ambiance is cozy and the view is spectacular. Owned by a famous Turkish actress, this is where the "artistic" society of Istanbul meet for drinks and conversation.

If you are holding out on your first hookah experience until you go to Istanbul then this is the place to hook up! Mesale is like a place out of an old James Bond movie with Sean Connery: cultural music in the background, smoke filled air, lavish styled furniture, and a global meetup of intellectual minds. Food is available but ...

During our three years living in Istanbul, Gani Gani was the restaurant that we loved and visited most. The decor is authentic Anatolian although the restaurant is located in a maze of streets near Taksim in the heart of Istanbul. Our waiters were always very friendly, never rushing our service in any way. The food is phenomenal. Gani Gani makes ...

    Pudding Shop Lale Restaurant

Although it isn't the hippie haven it one was, there is still a fun atmosphere and great pudding! I loved seeing the newspaper clippings from the 60s and 70s and the remaining bulletin board looking for rides across Europe and Asia.
