Though it's ticky-tacky-touristy in an Old West theme park sort of way, Jackson Hole has some of the most absolutely beautiful scenery in Wyoming. Year-round, you'll never run of outdoor activities here, from hiking and fly-fishing to skiing and horseback riding. If you're visiting Yellowstone National Park, fly into Jackson and rent a car, then hit Grand Tetons National Park either before or after your trip to Yellowstone.

The Jackson Hole Valley’s namesake ski resort in Teton Village features the largest vertical rise served by one lift system in the U.S., plus convenient, upscale digs like Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole. But Jackson, a half hour from the village and Jackson Hole Airport, is marvelous in its own right—and still the kind of western town where dressed-up generally means jeans. Those in-the-know gather for après-ski drinks at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and the historic Wort Hotel’s Silver Dollar Bar, then spill over to The Kitchen for grilled calamari steak or pan-seared red deer. Find your way back to the 31-room Rusty Parrot, near Jackson’s town square, where returning skiers are treated to house-made cookies.

Touristy but also has style. The town square is evident of this. The stores and resturants are all a bit expensive, but a window shopping walk though town is worth your while.

You will feel like a cowboy the second you step foot on this hallowed ground. As seen in the picture you have to like the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and hiking to have fun here. The main square provides you with fun, bars, and great people. Have fun taking in a bit of the Old West.

Whether you want to see a shootout or a rodeo or shop til you drop - or ski and snowboard right in town - Jackson is the vacation place of your dreams. The view of the Tetons - OMG! Bring a fat wallet though, nothing is cheap. Dick Cheney and the Rockerfellers call this home. (lived there twice and can't wait to visit my second favorite place on the planet)

This is such a great four-season destination. Certainly, the skiing at Jackson Hole is memorable, with a great mix of challenging and more forgiving terrain. But the town of Jackson has its charms, too. Be sure to go to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and sit on one of the barstools fashioned out of a saddle.

Despite a low cloud cover creating a dismally cloudy day on the ground, as soon as the Jackson Hole Tram broke above the clouds the sun shining into the cloud filled basin was spectacular. Quick videoblog post as well as panorama. http://youtu.be/U6JjaFGUuDQ

This is a very nice city of the west, very characteristic, with beautiful hotels and shops. There was a shop of hats, in the west cowboy style that had fantastic creations, and another shop in the main street selling everything for a very elegant cowboy. I was really impressed by prices. The main square has four 'doors' created with deer's horns. Skiing slopes are there at the foot of the city. We went during summer but would like to try it also during winter time
