Jaffa is a port just outside Tel Aviv more of a suburb but my favourite part of this city is the Old Jaffa area. This is where Jonah was swallowed by a whale. If you look from up the city towards the sea you will some interesting rock formation. where a legend says that in one of these rocks is ...

The Old City and the port provide memorable vistas of what once was while the merchants and galleries show us a modern what is. A definite place to visit.

Tel Aviv is the perfect juxtaposition of old and new. From the ancient stone streets of Jaffa you can see dozend of cranes rising over the financial district as the city continues to grow. The beaches and nightlife give the city a Miami feel, but the small galleries and shops of Jaffa have a distinct artist colony vibe.

Admitted Bias: I have family here. Still, for those travelers to Israel who want to experience a central urban place to see your run-of-the-mill urban town, vs. the grandeur, beaches of Tel Aviv, the spectacular SF-like hilly sights of Haifa, the trendy tech valley of Herzeliya Pituach, or chic historic Jerusalem for 2 instances. Ramat Gan is the place. Ok, ...

It rather boring from the touristic point of view. It's famous because the Weizmann Institute of Science and huge "science park" full of companies like HP, Applied Materials, etc. Also, there is the faculty of agriculture of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is a city hovering between heaven and earth. Set at the heart of Israel, on the summit of the Judean mountain range which divides the desert from the sea, its gentle slopes are filled with spire-like cypresses and twisted old olive trees- a tapestry of ochre and green. Everytime I bring my groups here, our guide will give a ...

We tried this walk with a pregnant mother and two energetic toddlers. It was a doable loop. The walk starts out on top, and as you descend the ravine gradually, the walk takes you on a shady path, past the rapids and finally towards the waterfall. A pleasant walk to beat the heat. Lots of nice spots to sit and ...

Blue Mediterranean, sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, food, coffee, ice-cream, nightlife, shopping... anything else you need for a holiday? Slightly quieter than busy Tel-Aviv, easy driving distance to Jerusalem, Haifa, and North and South of Israel (yes it's a small country)... You'll find plenty of locals speaking English, French and Russian as well as Hebrew. Enjoy.

After backpacking Israel intensely for 10 days I had come down with a mild cold and Zichron Yaakov was the perfect place to recuperate. With a very friendly community, great food and a tasty selection of wines from the local vineyard, this town is a great place to stay over before continuing on your way.
