I love the German grub here. As did my Father. As has almost everyone that I have been here with. I have been here for dinner multiple times. I havent been here for lunch as several others have talked about. This restaurant if a block away from another German joint, basically opposite sides of the 57 freeway at Ball Rd.
They have a great selection of German draughts on tap, but when I am here, I can never seem to pass up having a Spaten or three! However as you arrive and are awaiting your grub and get your first beer, they bring out delicious bread with butter to slather over it and have it melt into the creases and crevices of the bread. It is absolutely tasty as can be, especially the dark bread :D
They had a 4star chef trained in French and German grub found this place. So you get some very interesting fusion dishes... for example one of my favorites here is Chicken Cordon Blue with Black Forest Ham with traditional German sides like Spatzel! OMG the Spatzel and gravy here is just simply the best I have come across in So Cal. This restaurant does all kinds of absolutely great grub. The pork chops are always delicious and flavorful as well. Everyone I have brought here truly enjoys the sauerkraut quite a bit as well. I dont typically eat it so I cant give my own impression.
The ambiance here is truly farcical. They have their dining room sectioned into little areas with 3-5 tables per section. The sections are cordoned off with 4.5-5' high wooden walls with fake ivy strung around on top of them. In true Black Forest style, there are a number of gnomes, bunnies, and steins nestled in the ivy... lol! However, that was something that we thought was ridiculous, but you are here for the grub not the decor, period.
I know that they have some great dishes here... and try the spatzel with gravy YUMMY!

German food IS GOOD! What have I been missing??
After a pleasant adventure over to Euro Market, the next day I was craving for more German food, so Jagerhaus it was since it was much closer to me.
Very homey place, like you're dining at Grandma's, although, as the other yelpers have already mentioned, a little offbeat as we got seated by a spanish speaking gentleman who was also our waiter. xD
We ordered the German Combo to share ($17.95) that had Polish Sausage, Bratwurst (pork and beef sausage), Knackwurst (a garlicky beef sausage), and Smoked Pork Chop.
It also comes with 2 sides to choose from so we got the sauerkraut and the potato pancakes with apple sauce.
When the plate came it looked gorgeous with all the meat piled together on a bed of sauerkraut. I also love that they provide a jar of the german mustard because I use a CRAP TON of it.
We split everything up and dug in, and man it was soo juicy and flavorful! Also, all this time I've been shunning sauerkraut because of the non-attractive name, and for some reason I thought they were onions (bleh) but I've been sooo wrong :( It's DELICIOUS AND TANGY CABBAGE.
It went so well with the sausages, as I love alternating tastes between savory rich foods and pickled dishes (the asian in me) . Sauerkraut fan for life now!
The potato pancakes were also good! Once I bit into it, that Dreidel song came into my mind because I immediately thought of Latkes. Anyways.
The Smoked Pork Chop could've been a little hotter but I think that's the nature of it because it was also served the same temperature at Euro Market.
All in all, very tasty and a great first place to try if you've never had german food.
Oh, and their free bread is amazing. The brown roll though, not the white one. We asked for 3 bread basket refills of just the brown one xD
I'll be back to try breakfast!!Recommended for:Foodies
